You had a dealership that would fix it but you keep taking it elsewhere because you don't like the answers you're getting with regard to how long it's going to take.

Try asking for a loaner or ask your insurance about rental coverage but you aren't getting the runaround, YOU are doing the running around.

Leave it with the people willing to fix it. You're at 51k miles? Boohoo. Mine is shot at under 4k. Took a week to get it looked at and three to get it confirmed by their transmission guy, whole time it sat at the dealership.

It sucks, join the club, get it replaced before your warranty runs out. While you're at it, if you plan on keeping the truck, I'd give serious thought to extending your warranty with Granger on the board here.

Work order says found TSB 24-2101 reinstall trans solenoid strategy and preform adaptive learn retested. They didn’t even look at the transmission. Said the tests they ran said it was ok. I returned it after driving a couple miles away from dealership and doing the same thing as before. Now they say it needs a torque converter. Before this I kept getting pushed from dealership to dealership. Ford corporate response was try another dealership. I’ve called every dealership around and I’ve been told it’ll be weeks to months before the truck can be looked at. The first dealership diagnosed that it needed a torque converter but I’ve gotten the run around in why they cannot fix it and sent me somewhere else. I’m 5 weeks in and third dealership. After pushing they finally checked the transmission and said it’s the torque converter. Said it may be another month or so before it is fixed.
Did you read the TSB that I attached to my post? It spells out the steps. Sounds like they did step one. Which is what they are instructed to do. They should be moving to step two and not speculating that it’s the converter. Again I think you have a dealer issue. Not much can be done about time getting to it if they are all that busy. Any mention of a loaner being provided while you wait for repair?

I'll just refer you to this post he made.

I did take it back to the one that said it needed replaced. They agreed it needed to replaced but said they were unable to do the it and they transferred it to their sister dealership who is now giving me the run around.

Thanks. No loaner. When I was trying to find a dealership the several I contacted all said they do not provide loaners and they are way behind on transmission work. I agree I think it’s a dealer issue. Never had this problem at the one I purchased from but it closed a few weeks before this happened. In all the years of driving Ford I have never had this kind of experience.

Ranger has 51,000 miles. Could feel the transmission slipping. Dealership I bought from closed. Took it to another dealership. They said need a new transmission. Felt the torque converter had messed up. Said fluid is black and has metal in it. They were in process of going under new ownership and could not perform the repairs for a couple weeks. I took it to another dealership as this is my only vehicle and need it fixed. Had to be towed to the next dealership as it quit pulling hills. Next dealership said it needed 3 quarts of tans fluid. Other than that no problems detected. No leaks nothing. When I pulled out of lot it started slipping again. Took back to first dealership. They said need new transmission still have the same problems and now 1st gear is out. They couldn’t repair it and transferred it to their sister store. This dealership says they did tsb 24-2101 and now it runs fine. Tests came back nothing wrong. I pull out of parking lot and it’s is still slipping in the 30-45mph range. Took it back and they tell me it’ll be weeks before it’ll be fixed. Said it’ll be couple weeks before they can even diagnose it. I’m already 4 weeks into this mess without a plan to fix it. Looking for suggestions on who to contact at Ford and opinions on if the trans should be replaced since it has gotten hot enough to not be driveable at one point. It is still slipping on the 30-45 mph range. Wanting to make sure I push to get this fixed correctly.
63k miles on my 2021 and I'm having similar issues at the same 30-45 mph range. 8th gear, feels like it's slipping in and out of gear. Pretty subtle. I called a few Ford dealerships this morning and they're all backed up a few months. I have a lifetime powertrain warranty on it. IDK what to do now. Called around to a few transmission places and they said they pretty much only do swaps on this model.

No overheating, no grinding sounds. It'll occasionally (once per week) have a rough shift when accelerating. No check engine light on it. I was going to schedule my transmission maintenance and they cancelled the appointment when I asked if they'd check in to the issues while they were at it. I was told they won't change the fluids because that could make any problems worse.

Is your warranty through Ford or 3rd party?

It's through Ford. Dealership was offering it as an incentive when I purchased the truck.
Not aware of any “lifetime “ Ford factory warranty. You might want to see exactly what warranty you have as it makes a difference in which direction you go.

Maybe a swap would be the simplest way to go, if the price is reasonable. I was thinking if I start have tranny issues, that's the way I would go. Assuming it was past warranty.

It's probably a dealer warranty.
The local Giles Nissan/Volvo/Hyundai dealers here give you a lifetime power train warranties on vehicles purchased there. They only caveat is that you have to have it serviced there at every 5K. Miss one service interval, warranty is void. And it's not transferable if sold. They do this because there is a very good chance someone will buy a new car within 5 years, or at least before major troubles start to appear.

The dealership just got back with me. You're right, it's not Ford Factory. The warranty is through Louisiana Dealer Services.

Ok, so you have to find out if your transmission is covered through Louisiana Dealer Services and if so where you can take it to get repairs covered. May not have to be a Ford dealer.

Your reply makes no sense. Are you implying that if my truck breaks down due to engine or trans failure, they will not warranty repairs because it was towed to the dealer? What exactly is TSB 22-7086?

Edit: The only references to TSB 22-7086 I can find relates to flat towing a vehicle, which is not the same as having it towed to a repair shop by a tow truck.
My apology I thought that you were flat towing your vehicle i.e. behind an RV. If that were the case (as is was mine) Ford will not honor the warranty. I don't know their policy of flat towing for short distances behind a wrecker. I did not mean to confuse the issues. My apology.

Dealership should be able to take a look at it next week.

I drove it in sport mode yesterday and there were no issues. I'm hoping it's just a TCM issue or something like that.
