I have a 2020 Ranger XLT FX4 4x4 . I upgraded from the OEM Tires to the Falken Wildpeak AT 3Ws.

I was told that I didn’t need a lift. I have the original stock frame. The front drivers wheel well rubbed slightly and now the “carpet” is gone w some of the shielding that prevents dirt and debris getting into the engine compartment is missing.

Question?? Do I need to go back to OEM or get a lift. The tires are original 265 60 R18 size that the 18” OEM tires were. The other tires are fine w no problems.

Thanks for the input.

First I'd have them check the alignment and see if that's off a bit. On my '19 it rubbed a little on hard left turns but they had to adjust it and it was fine after.

Also some tires in the same size can run a bit bigger/wider. I would check alignment. If all else fails get a baby 1 inch lift up front using spacers.

I am running 285/70 Nitro Ridge Grappler (33s) tires and a Rough Country lift, Roush Rims
I still have my crash bars no rub anywhere....
I believe when these tires are done I am going back to cooper, I have had them on other 4x4s in the past and like them just a little better ....

That's unusual, but I guess not unheard of considering the above replies. I thought you could even go up a size (to 265/65R18 or 265/70R17) with a stock suspension without rubbing but I guess not ?.

OP do you think something got stuck in your tire and ripped the carpet off? I'm still surprised the stock size tire did that.

Can you post a picture of what got ripped off?

I had the Ridge Grapplers on my '19. I loved them at first but they didn't wear well at all and were junk at 28K. I had just bought Toyo OC AT 3's right before my accident. They were highly recommended here (quiet and great wear) and from the short time I had them I really liked them. I'd definitely buy them again.

Hey there,

sure…

I am yet to check the alignment but…maybe do the Fox 2.0 lift from Ford and it can be done at the Ford dealer...was trying to stick with stick with stock and save some money
The passenger side is fine

First of all your post has the pictures and the rest of you information inside of @EJH Post.

Second your carpet liner looks just like mine on my 2019 XLT. What it looks to me like whoever did the last oil change didn't put the cover flap back properly with the pins and it got ripped off farther by the wheel when backing up with the wheel cranked left. It's hanging there folded up.

This makes a ton of sense. I was wondering if this was the flap for the oil filter. I didn't have a chance to go and look at my truck yet. I highly doubt the tire size the original poster is running is causing any kind of rubbing. Almost everybody can go up one size on stock suspension without rubbing.

As mentioned, that is odd you would have rubbing with an aftermarket tire in the same OE size.

Sounds like your already taking steps to check the the liner is pinned correctly. I would also turn the steering wheel to max and see if the tire is making contact.

It is not touching. But I now have to get liner replacement and make sure that the other parts are good. I actually bought my new tires at discount tire. I hope the issue didn’t start there..as the rub happened right after that.

The issue likely started at wherever you had the last oil change. They didn't secure the flap correctly and securely.

For what it is worth, I have my oil changed at Ford's quicklane. I noticed one of the plastic rivets securing that flap inside my wheel well is missing :(

After my last dealership Quicklane oil change I also noticed 2 missing clips. The oil filter was also barely hand tight. I noticed a slow drip from the oil chute, and when I finally managed to get to the horrible filter location I bumped it with my hand reaching for it and it spun freely...leery of ever going there for anything ever again.
