Have you asked to speak to the GM where you purchased it? I worked for a manufacturer and they always involved me when it got this bad.

I have spent hours on the phone with ford directly.

The vehicle qualifies for lemon law in the state of Utah. Ford has flat out lied and said its only been in service for 18 days not 37. Proof in the service records straight from the dealer. Maybe they can't do simple math, but added up its totals 37 days. Most of the issues have been fixed, yes. But the major issue is the truck does not steer straight and that has not been fixed. Was told "thats as good as its gonna get" by two dealers... I don't know about the rest of you guys, but when I buy a brand new truck I expect it to steer straight. Maybe thats just me though...
Just to clarify here, Ford didn't lie, the dealer did. The dealership isn't owned by Ford Motor Company so saying "Ford lied" is technically putting the blame where it doesn't belong. That goes back to you saying you'd never buy a Ford again either...it wasn't Ford that necessarily screwed this up. It was the two shitty service departments with Ford logos on their buildings that did. That may not mean much to you, but for those of us in the industry, it makes a huge difference. I agree with the previous sentiments that you need to talk to the GM of both dealerships and make sure they understand what's going on. You'd be amazed how much is kept from the GM's desk because if they knew, it'd be fixed immediately and someone would likely get reprimanded. Nine times out of ten, the lower management is just hoping you'll give up and go away. Also, if you haven't done so already, you need to lawyer up too.

Something often overlooked while performing an alignment is rear thrust angle. Front toe may be spot on but if thrust angle is off the wheel won't appear centered. Any chance you have a printout from the alignment?

If you do get another Ranger, go to a different dealer.

Cant align a door or index a steering wheel?

That is basic stuff. If they cant do that, no wonder they cant fix anything else.

Inexcusable.
The door frame may have been welded untrue,, or the door skin improperly alligned with its frame, which in either case would make it nearly impossible to line up all the folds and creases. I don't know about the steering wheel, the whole rack and column are different with electric rather than hydraulic power assist.

But the OP does have a lot of unrelated issues on that sick puppy. Makes me wonder how it got all the way out of the plant after going through multiple inspection stations.

Hi Jason,

Well said! The problems Taylor have experienced are solvable by a heads up Service Department of which both dealerships do not have it would appear.

Back Story to explain some misconseptions of when Ford ends and the other party begins.

We have a motorhome chassis, the E450, We ship this to the Motorhome manufacturer to put their body and other parts on E450.
Most install a different Radio and place a fabricated out of wood and fiberglass body on the chassis. They wire these vehicle with wire nuts that are for a house, that does not move and install such devices as propane/electric water heaters and water plumbing.
The steering wheel has the Ford Oval. The plumbing springs a leak due to poor quality install of the plumbing. What does the customer say... "This FORD is a pile of crap" Ford had nothing to do with this but that is what the customer thinks.

This why we instituted a program called Qualified Vehicle Modifier. We stopped selling the E450/F450 to RV manufacturers unless they complied with our requirements. The RV industry complained and many RV manufacturers switched to GM and Chrysler... It was great for Ford as let them take the hit for the crap that the RV industry builds. Rvs like my Alfa were built to a standard that was 40 years ago. Almost all RVs are rolling piece of Junk. And I have first hand experience to say that the Million dollar coaches of Newel and Prevost are still junk.

This is why I told my engineers that we have to get it right out of the box on each and every vehicle...Keep customer out of a return to the dealership for ANY reason

I know there are reputable dealers out there, but most in my opinion would not care if they were Ford today and GM tomorrow. They only want to make money. I regard my local dealer as SUBPAR. As such, I bought my Ranger from a dealer 50 miles away as this dealer is a straight shooter...

I just did a alignment today after installing the Fox kit on my Ranger. Aligning the steering wheel to be straight is just part of it, and know big deal, if you know what your doing.

There is just something about this that doesn’t pass the smell test for me. It seems like too simple of a problem for two dealers to overlook. I looked after 14 dealers in 6 states and it just seems inconceivable this could happen even with the least experienced tech.

In most large dealerships there is a shop foreman and I would be politely asking to speak to him.
