2019 Ford Ranger Gas Mileage

Okanagan Winemaker

2020 xlt FX4 with about 4000 km on it. My drive is a 120 km a day with a 50/50 city highway split.
Averaging 10 liters/per 100 km (23.5 mpg). All depends on how heavy your right foot is. I have driven this commute for years and I can’t believe how people in full size trucks drive...can’t imagine what their fuel bill is.

I find all this strange. We have nearly 7,000 miles on our Ranger. I've never reset "Trip 1" settings and we are averaging over 25 mpg through the entire time we've owned the truck.

I reset Trip 1 every fill-up, but never reset Trip 2 on any vehicle I've ever owned. I'm sitting at 21.4mpg on Trip 2, bit that's mostly because we do so much trailering and winter makes up more than half the year, which brings the lifetime average way down. haha

Full disclosure i'm a conservative driver and hypermile. I've got about 2000 miles on my 2020 4x2 and my last 2 tanks were 25.2 and 26.2. The computer has been 2mpg higher than what the math has shown for me so far (computer has shown 27.2 and 28.2). Only 2K miles though

the ranger keeps a "life time" mpg separate from the tripometers. Mine was at 7 when I bought the truck an it was just below 21 with 7K on it but when I copied my factory tune into the Livernois they all reset to zero.

4x4 Lariat: I average around 20 in town and on highway. I'm typically pretty light on the pedal in town. Highway mileage drops significantly over 70. Average a bit over 9 with my 6000 lbs travel trailer between 55-65. Premium vs regular has made no difference.

I find the instrument options limited for what is sold as a capable, high-tech truck. The temperature gauge is only available on one display screen. In addition to oil pressure, there should be a turbo-boost gauge to give you a clue as to how hard you are hitting the boost.

Stop and go and idling absolutely kill the mileage on this truck. you can literally watch the FE go down as your sitting at a light.

As you can see from the attachment, my lifetime average is 23.4 mpg. This is not the dash reading, but the actual calculated fuel mileage over 20250 miles. The original dash reading was about 1.5 to 2 mpg high, I have since adjusted it to read correctly. I have got as low as 19 mpg on one tank when I was towing my trailer with my side by side on it, the tow was only about 2100 lbs, but the aerodynamics was the killer.
On the rare occasion that I get real highway miles for several hours, the mileage goes up to about 26.
Mine is a 2WD super-cab and I carry several hundred pounds of tools and equipment all the time. Most of my driving is what I call rural, no real city, no real highway, most of the time below 62 mph.
I drive like a want to get good gas mileage, but no one would ever accuse me of driving slow.

I'm thinking I may well be one of those "snowflakes" mentioned in an earlier post. From day one I've gotten roughly 26mpg on my 2WD XLT Sport...until now. Now that I've had the 2" level kit installed and am using the remote start 5 afternoons a week (danged hot here in Phoenix), my combined mileage has dropped to about 24.5 mpg. Even so, I'm very happy with that.

I suppose that's a "qualified" mpg though, because as I said I am here in Phoenix where it's practically level everywhere, and I'm not one to get too deep into the throttle most of the time. I use the cruise control a LOT on the freeway and in the city, and rarely go over 70mph on the freeways or 48mph on the surface streets (actually drops me into 10th gear sometimes at that speed).

2019 FX4 ... about 22.7 is my average, but I do not do alot of stop and go driving ... on the pure highway days, I can see 23.9 or so ... I tend to cruise at 75-78 on the highway ... I think it seems to get better mileage on the 89/93 octane fuels vs. 87 ......
