2022 ford ranger
any chance someone's engine has died and the decided to try to swap in the 2.3L ford performance ecoboost? I was thinking about trying it. I'm also certain that the oil pump will not hit the front diff. run the engine off a stand alone.

That would be a downgrade though ??‍♂
What standalone is going to run the transmission too? Or the VCT? The engine is a stock Mustang HPP or regular Mustang engine so it’s nothing special. Sounds like a ton of work for basically zero performance gains and a bunch of complications.

I think your money would be well spend in other mods. There are a LOT of performance options for this ranger.

1. Turbo Downpipes (catless cause fuck the epa :rockon: )
2. Intercooler.
3. Upgraded turbo
4. Cat Back Exhaust (or just totally rip a straightpipe.)
5. Cold Air Intake w/ a volussa tech air dam to maximize air
6. Performance Tune.
+ More

With all this you can get comfortably up to 350HP+. Around the 450 range you'll risk the integrity of the baby 2.3.

I’m already well over 350whp on my stock engine. I’m looking for around 400/420 to the wheels then I’m done pushing the stock engine. I know it can make more than that but it’s not going to last very long without breaking something. If mine pops I might consider a few more upgrades, I really feel like sleeves or at least a deck support would be the way to go for more reliable power handling.

I’m already well over 350whp on my stock engine. I’m looking for around 400/420 to the wheels then I’m done pushing the stock engine. I know it can make more than that but it’s not going to last very long without breaking something. Got a list of things you've done? I'm very interested in getting this sort of power in my ranger.
Obviously it can be done many ways but I did it this way.

I’m using some custom parts made by me at Revolution automotive in Baltimore.
It’s a 21 Lariat FX4 Black pack, it is pretty heavy so I know I’m not gonna break any acceleration records but it’s definitely in the 12 second range.
I have a 4” open filter hot air intake going into a 3.5” turbo inlet pipe. The turbo is a 57mm upgrade from Fast Mavericks. I’m using a Livernois intercooler with a Mishimoto hot pipe and the Livernois hose on the cold side. Turbosmart closed valve and a UPR dual valve catch can with CSS. The exhaust is all custom 3” with a Helmholtz resonator, bypass valve and hidden tailpipe under the bumper. 3” downpipe too. XDI injectors and e30 fuel. Tuned by Revolution automotive with SCT software.

The accessory drive and some other stuff are also different and would make things difficult. Really, our engine is a great stock engine platform to use. It’s not any different in overall strength and the Ranger engine already fits. As far as using a nx2, you need to adapt the bolt pattern at the head and make a custom downpipe as well. The water ports don’t match up and the wastegate actuator is pneumatic instead of the electronic one on the Ranger. There are already upgraded Ranger turbos available that bolt on and support 400 or more to the wheels. I have one, it’s great.

i asked a shop to look at the bolt pattern and it the same as the mustang bolt pattern on the head at least that's what i was told also i feel like on the nx2 the lower 2 bolts set way in and the ranger turbo has a more squared off pattern. new water lines, exhaust and some turbo piping doesnt seem to bad to manage. have yall looked into different pistons to lower compression down to 9.5?

It’s not the same pattern and the wastegate is a problem.
why would you reduce compression? It’s not going to help anything. More boost and timing with lower compression is similar to less boost and timing on higher compression, it’s a more efficient engine with higher compression.
