Love to hear if anybody has barked up this tree yet?

I saw a post buried in another thread suggesting that the Ford Performance engine calibration is not compatible with the 2021 models...yet. Lack of CARB compliance or something. Can anyone confirm this? If in fact true, have any of you been in contact with Ford Performance regarding this matter?

I ask because I am about to take delivery of a 2021 that I had spec'd with the level two performance package. If I bring this question up with the service department, I'm bound to get the same confused look that they gave me when I had to physically show them the parts existed via their own parts catalog. Not super confident in getting a concrete answer from them. Not necessarily their fault, there certainly seems to be a lack of available information out there.

I will be on the phone with FP as soon as possible. I'll share what I find out.

I had the question a few weeks ago. I contacted FP and was told they’re anticipating having a package ready for the 2021 models this summer.

If it's just a short waiting game, I could get behind that. I was hoping to do a proper break in on the truck anyhow to get a feel for it as stock...then juice it up. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Leviton said it’s the same for 2021 for the tuner

Thanks. I fired off an email yesterday to get a jumpstart on things. If I get nowhere with whomever happens to read it, I'll shoot one over to the guy you talked to.

Just received a reply from Ford Performance.

"Calibration upgrade is currently not available for the 2021 model year Rangers.
The calibration will be released when CARB legal."

No ETA.

Ya. It’s in there post here. Lemme see if I can find it
I'm not convinced. See my post above with the info direct from Ford Performance. Then again, nobody really seems to know what the deal is.

I see what's going on here. That post you referenced is from Livernois, their tunes are apparently compatible with the 21s because they don't have to wait for permission form the California air nazis. *Off Road Use Only* Since Ford is labeling their tune as on road legal, they have to jump through the bureaucratic hoops.
Ohhh ya. I missed the Ford tune part lol.
In theory all you need to do is buy it for a 21 and use. Should work?

Not quite. Came across a post from a guy with a 21 that tried...got a bunch of error codes and wasn't able to upload the tune. Seems that since Ford has the vIN tied to the tuning software somehow it knows that its not a 19-20 and says no bueno.

I did however talk to Livernois today, and they did in fact confirm that their tuner/tunes will work on the 21s. So it's either play the waiting game with Ford to have the tune covered under warranty, or take my business to Livernois and hope I don't end up have to use the Magnusson-Moss precedent for warranty coverage should the need arise. Livernois does have an impeccable record so, probably not a concern. They are also a local company for me, geographically speaking, which is nice....then again, so is Ford, technically.

I'll probably stick it out for a month or two to see how things shake out with Ford. Based on the tone of the email I received, they are more than aware that this is an issue. Time will tell. At least there is a plan B.
