I stopped by dealer yesterday to swap Ford semi-syn oil for their full syn engine oil.
I stopped at the service desk to talk to the manager about a flush for my 10R80. He was busy, but his assistant is hot, hot. So I asked her. Some lower price for a dump, filter, refill. $189 for a flush + filter. Blink, blink. I asked her for the price using their flush machine. $189.

They say if it is to good to be true, it probably isn't.
Thoughts please.

Did you get it in writing/printed ???
If not, probably won't honor it based on your say-so......
Verbal. I'll call to verify, and get a printed estimate before I bite.

They did the same thing when I asked for an install price for the Ford TBC. Even had emails from them with their quoted price. I negotiated a mid point price knowing that how much labor was really involved.

That would be one helluva dealer. My back of the brain math says that just in parts you're at about $60 and that's being generous with their costs on filter/fluid.

I think their labor is $135-$150/hr. I guess if the tech was getting after it, it could be done for that price. ....+7% sales tax.

Good luck getting them to use a machine to flush it. There are no lines to connect to on the 10R80 in the Ranger. Take a look for yourself and see.

They have an adapter that goes in place of the cooler on the side of the transmission that allows them to hook up a flush machine

It would be better if that adapter stayed in place so it wouldn't have to be removed all the time

I assume they would remove the trans cooler and use inlet/outlet tubes (5&6) while its on the hoist for the sump dump.

I reckon their adapter looks something like this. Good 'ol UPR. I've wondered about a remote trans cooler. This is the hook up.

I get the whole 'lets change all the fluid', but why bother with a machine if you're dropping the pan anyways to do the filter. I'd rather them not break any factory sealed connections and just drop the pan, change the filter, and refill.

Ford doesn't have a great track record with keeping trans connections sealed in the first place, last thing I want is a service monkey futzing around with mine.

The sump contains only a part of the trans fluid volume. Torque converter, cooler, valve body retain quite a bit of stale fluid with break in micro debris. The extra cost & effort may delay a 10R80 failure. But having this service on record may help with later trans cost negotiations.

Like they say on this site photos or it is not true. Not talking about the quote.
