But in all seriousness if a large portion (say 80 million) stopped paying taxes they would just print more. Money is fake at this point (or maybe has been since 1913) when the government spends more than they take in every month, every time.
what would make me happy is every time our govt. fails us or we get higher inflation we in turn could remove that inflation from our taxes. so, the more they screw up the less we pay. id also love to stop all the frills and bens they get on our dime. no more limos or govt jet setting on our taxes. no more 247 above the law protections and guards. they should drive a car they pay for, like we do. they should fly commercial flights like we do. no more health care thats above what we get as taxpayers. govt should be forced to use only the va system. and they should be behind all the folks waiting. our govt of the people is so far above and out of touch with the people it is just sick. a few hours in line at the va, or getting booed and felt up on commercial flights or paying for their own hookers and smack instead of using our money may just bring some adjustments to the govt.

In California, we are creating a culture of renters and landlords. Houses in my area (San Luis Obispo county) that we’re selling for 650k a year ago are going for 900k cash now. It’s similar all over the state and while interest rates go up, cash buyers don’t care, but it increases payments for everyone else. If you have a tent, though, you can live in the riverbed for free. I can’t see this thing ending very well.

Depends on which 80 mill.
"... the top 1% of income earners—those who earned more than $540,000—earned 21% of all U.S. income while paying 40% of all federal income taxes. The top 10% earned 48% of the income and paid 71% of federal income taxes."
But;
"... there were 144.3 million taxpayers in the U.S. that paid individual income taxes"
Yeah but it does it matter? 2020 was $3T income in federal taxes and $6T spent. In 2021 it looks like it's going to be 2.3T over and 2022 has already gone over ~$475B just Jan and Feb. Runaway train.

Not just free you get $600 per month in assistance. There was an interview with a homeless guy and he wasn't even a resident. He came there cause it was the place to be, free money and get high all day without worry. Junkies are flooding into CA from everywhere, like it's the clownworld version of the Oregon Trail.

Imagine a millennial thinking they are a genius because they can use devices designed by boomers to be easy to use. LOLZ...

<Serious moment> The cell phone and the computer were invented and developed by boomers. We (except when we are just kidding around) should stop putting people in boxes according to their "age group" or generation. Millennials have have their sub-divisions, and so do boomers... </Serious moment>

You may continue...
?

Who said anything about being or feeling like a genius? I would think that comment hit a little close to home but you show to be an engineer. Unless that means you drive a train or still work on paper with a slide rule only, I would assume you can find the power button on your PC and don't fall into the category I was poking at a bit.

On the generations and tech: I would be willing to bet more boomers still use AOL to get on the internet than had anything to do with the design or building of tech-related stuff.

On a similar note I find it sort of funny how well the younger types can use the tech but have ZERO clue how it works. I landed at the right time to have to walk both ways uphill in the snow before I could get my OS to work after using fdisk, hitting it with a rock, and hoping I had all the drivers ready to go.

Also agree on the generation thing being a bit silly as a lot of people cross those lines in terms of knowledge, manners, work ethic, etc. Its only a bit better that astrological sign.

Pretty spot on. But I didn't say you were a millennial OR a genius. Just that the millennials making fun of boomers about tech usually have in mind how slick they are on iOS... (But if the shoe fits...)

P.S. NOBODY knows how Windows works... (Have you tried turning it off and on again?)

I've had very limited experience with Windows or Android. The modern Samsung phones work well for sure. Windows OS runs natively on Mac machines with the Intel chip (since 2006). Mac OS is actually emulated (imitate Windows OS) on the same machines. Prior to 2006 (Motorola chips) it was just the opposite setup.

A few years back, I bought an inexpensive HP laptop running Windows 10 for automotive programs. Worked well but lousy screen resolution - I got what I paid for apparently.

More recently, and for the first time, I installed Windows 10 Home on a brand new Macbook Pro - constant errors until I loaded a program that updated all of the driver programs (Norton/Outbyte Driver Updater) and cleaned up the mess. Quite the shock to someone who is spoiled by the seamless loading and operation of Mac OS. Using Mac almost exclusively for 26+ years now.

I suspect those using Forscan are using a Windows laptop of one kind or another.

I have an old windows laptop I booted up just for Forscan. Man is it terrible! Takes a good 10 minutes to boot and home screen gets flooded with garbage like Windows Defender and McAfee trial expired. I've been using Linux on old Thinkpads for about 5 years now.

I used Apple for awhile before that but they got to be a ripoff. When I was in NJ during Hurricane Sandy I lost power for 3 weeks and I had a solar backup charger. Well I went to use it and my iPhone told me "Not supported". I need a linux phone that isn't $2k and backordered 52 weeks.

Every Apple item I've purchased since 2013 has been 'Apple Refurbished' - most are just overstock that have never been used and come with a full warranty. Forget trying to buy anything from Apple 'refurbished' during the Christmas holidays.

I got a macbook when they first came out around 2006 and was pretty impressed with it. It lasted a good 10 years with no signs of slowing down. Something got on my nerves with it, can't remember if it was proprietary software, bad updates or politics lol. But getting a used thinkpad for $300, loading Ubuntu on it and having it just go go go was pretty surprising. People forget how cool those old laptops are, with hot swappable bays and hardware cutoff switches.

Back to the OP, and not reading back through, this might have been said.

Maybe this was an underhanded damper joke?

Dude, saw you get out of a Ranger and assumed you had damper atrophy and needed to go to the gym?

i feel if you want to make good money, you improve your skills.

It saddens me to see newcomers coming into my line of work, expecting top dollar from the get go.

Now, with that being said, a waitress can be at the top of her game, or be a bottom dwelling just getting by waitress....which i why i hate pooled tips. The one who earned it is getting ripped off, the other is getting a bonus for doing nothing.
I agree with you. If you want to get ahead, work your butt off. If you won't, someone else will. However, no matter how hard I have ever worked anywhere, no raise, no anything except more work. It just motivated me to seek better positions elsewhere.
