That's kind of the point. Those who DO deserve it will rise above and very quickly start earning much more. Those who don't deserve it will just continue to get it.
I totally get it, I used to be adamant about the increase not being fair or good, or whatever. I guess I also am starting to change my opinion though considering how much things cost these days. I guess I’m becoming a bit more empathetic to their situation. The last thing I want is more homeless people around where I live, though there isn’t enough affordable housing even if a person was trying to survive off $15 per hour, especially $10 per hour. No easy solutions to the situation really.

Early on in my years of working, employers could give you a position you weren't qualified for yet and train you into it. Then, the late 80's hit, and it was do more with less. You actually had to know the position to get it. Then the yearly 3% (or whatever) raise that you were unofficially guaranteed turned into "what did you do to earn it?" That's where the seperation started in my opinion, those that earned their way up the ranks, and those who remained complacent. Minimun wage used to be for high schoolers and retirees. Lately, it has become the jobs of the unmotivated. And they want to Gov to give them more...
As a retired HS teacher, I've seen the transgression of the workforce attitudes, but I'm guessing most people have. They start out wanting money, but for most, it loses the competition to socialization. Even when they are earning more than min wages, $15 - $18 per hour, money isn't that important.
Do we blame parents for giving their kids what they didn't have? The kids (or adults) because they don't want to work as hard as their parents when they really want to have fun?
Whatever the case, I don't want to be on the hook for paying for their poor choices. Don't complain about choices you made...
BTW, I have a step daughter who worked her ass off, now with a Masters in Social Services (etc) and lives a good life, free from help. Some of her friends are just as successful, but they will never make the headlines.

And I do vote, but try to find a politician who isn't trying to buy votes with free this and that.

Can we all agree there is no simple fix. We are screwed no matter what due to corporate and politician greed. Both sides are guilty so dont wanna hear this or that. Best place to start imo is get money outta politics.

I live in the real world, bud. Go to any reasonably populated medium size town/city, and you won't find any employer that offers less than $12/hr. for any job.

Be smarter.
Honolulu, Hi. Population 1.4 million. Minimum wage $10.10. I can point you to business all day long poying that, or even just $11.00/hr
