So, I go to lunch today... Order my food. The attendant asks me my name, I tell her "Jim".

I get the receipt and it says my name. I'm curious so I look in my old paperwork only to find out that my real full name is "Gymnasium".

Looks like I've been spelling it wrong for 64 years.

It has been 13 years since the minimum wage was last raised. waitress and wait staff it is $3.26 up to $6.35 plus tip. up to the max of $15 ish or dollars an hour based on state. Most restaurants pool all tips into one pot and also split it among the bus boys and cooks too so they can pay those people less per hour too.

Remember back when a good tip was 15%? now a minimum required tip is 18% and a good tip could be 25% or more. Why is this? Why does everyone always question minimum wage but not tipping rate. and mandatory tipping. Hell My pizza place's asks you to tip when you pick an order up. (not delivery but pickup)


Tipping has lead to horrible underpaid wait staff. maybe if we got rid of tipping and paid them a flat rate the quality could improve.

Most likely not as then restaurants would actually have to pay their staff.

Since 1968 if minimum wage followed inflation then it would be $21.00 an hour.
That is how much inflation has gone up and how badly we are paying the majority of people in this country.

I know you kind of said that in jest, but I've had guards here that can't tell time on an analog clock.
And many that can't spell their way out of a wet paper bag.

I ordered a burger from Jack's a few months ago and got down the road only to find out there was no meat . I don't mind a BLT but I paid for a burger

I watched one young lady almost freak out at one of our local restaurants when I did this. I gave her about 45 seconds, and then told her to give me the pennies back. These kids are our future, and I'm worried.

I do this all the time and most will say "sir, you gave me to much money". I tell them I don't want any more pennies and the register will tell you what to do. What do they teach these kids in school now? Heck most can't even write or read cursive writing.
