I drove my Ranger on my work trip this week to Albuquerque because I knew I’d have one free day. I took it on a forest road East of Albuquerque. It was a fun trail that is perfect for the Ranger’s capabilities.

I have the Hankook AT2 in this size (265/70R17) and they are about 2 pounds lighter, but looking at the 285/70R17, it is really the lightweight for this size tire. If I decide to move up to that size, the Trail Terrain would be worth the consideration.

I have never heard of the BFGoodrich Trail Terrain tire. Why would you get this over the All-Terrain T/A KO2?

If you lift the rear, then your driveshafts (there are two on the Rangers) will be at different angles than stock, preventing the transmission output and the rear axle from being parallel. This will create vibrations at specific speeds.

Rear is lifted? So drive shaft is out of phase, creating wobble, then you can get past it.

When using a battery charger, connect the negative cable to a ground. Don’t connect it to the negative battery post.

6 cylinder has different fuel injection and turbos. F-150 is only about 400 lbs more. I’ve driven both. F-150 gets better mileage.

F-150 will win if it is geared high and unloaded.

Almost every Ranger is different. You pretty much have to look at the sticker in the door jamb. The lowest I have seen on an FX4 is 1410 lbs.

I also noticed that there is a $250 regional discount. I’ve never seen that before, but I believe it means that if someone from outside the area wants to buy it, they could not get that discount. Before there were regional rebates, but not much rebate is available right now.

A couple of months ago, at this dealership, I noticed three Rangers in the lot. I checked them online and they were used with between 5000-12000 miles on them. They were all listed at the MSRP of a new one. I don't know how much they sold for, but they were only on the lot for a few days.

I like my Ranger. My family does not. They sit in the back seat. I don’t. I also drive rental cars several times a month. One week I was in a F150. My daughter liked it better, as the evidence below proves.
