Today I installed a Tuson DirecLink Trailer Brake Controller, model DL-100. I had originally planned on installing the RedArc, but couldn't get past the little button and the different colored LEDs, after towing for years with controllers that had the information screens - I'm getting old and like the info screens.
What I liked about the DirecLink, while researching, was the additional OBDII plug that allows the controller to monitor the vehicle's computer. I figured this was the closest I was going to get to what I had with my factory installed controller on the F250. That system was far superior to any aftermarket controller I ever ran, as the braking was much smoother. One added feature that I really like on the DirecLink is the ability to set BOTH high speed braking AND low speed braking. As good as the factory F250 system was, my only complaint was that I always had to dial down the gain at the end of my trips during the slow speed portion, to keep the trailer brakes from locking up. With this system, I can set up both the high speed and low speed braking adjustments initially, and then forget it.
