All Ranger models come with the Pre-collision Assist and Emergency Braking as standard.
Not a lawyer or an insurance sales rep, but turning it off my have some legal consequence if you are involved in an accident. I have mine set at the least sensitive setting..

I don't know if it would have legal ramifications. But I'm the insurance rates would go way up if they found out the safety features weren't being used.

Getting rid of it completely would be quite the undertaking, with how integrated it is into other systems. If it's off, then it's off completely I think. So you'll likely never encounter it again. Seems a heck of a lot easier than ripping out cameras and wires and reprogramming the whole truck.
I knew I could turn off the braking feature but I wanted to turn off the alarm feature, which I didn’t think was possible; however, I discovered yesterday that you can turn the pre collision off as well as the AEB. I was more interested in tricking the sensor than ripping the truck apart, but now that I’ve found the off setting, I hope I’ll have no more issues with this. Thank you for the feedback!

people assume i meant from the Ford stable.
the bottom line is you bought a vehicle with it, thats your mistake.
It wasn’t a mistake. 1- most every brand has a feature similar to this in all new vehicles. It’s a pretty standard thing by today’s standards. 2- I knew the vehicle had this technology when I bought it. What I didn’t know is that it would be activating because it was raining outside. I still love this truck, I just wondered if anyone had found a solution to this problem, Which is what these forums are for. To get ideas and problem solve with people who have the same Vic and have possibly solved the same issues. No one wants to get on a forum and see useless information. That goes against the entire purpose of its existence. So if you have no relevant information to the thread topic, take it somewhere else.

mmm, lovely, you're a censorship dictator.

I can vouch that mine, like others do not have problems with our sensors when it rains.

so either we have the problem, or you do...only fixable by Ford.

turning them off is only a bandaid.

you wanna roll the dice and seek warranty repairs? or should I?
I know that it’s a problem. I also know I’m not the only one having the problem. Once Ford comes out with a repair, I would be happy to let them fix it. as I stated before, I could care less if it didn’t even have this system so leaving it off isn’t really a problem for me either. I really just wanted to know if anyone had found a way to disable it

I'm not a lawyer or ins salesperson either, but I would think that in order for them to deny coverage or settlement if a feature can be turned off by design, that would have to be in the contract language. Safety equipment and software that is designed to be always functional, such as seatbelts, airbags, ABS etc which has been disabled or removed could be denied in a claim. There was a case recently involving a self-driving test car (Waymo?) that had the collision avoidance disabled in order to hook up the self-drive equipment. The car struck and killed a pedestrian. Other cases like that around too.

Yeah, I feel like if a feature can be turned off simply by pressing a button (or going through the menu) then they should assume that people will drive that way. But that seems too logical, and insurance companies are out for your money in the end, so who knows what sorts of scams they have built in.

I don't know about the brake assist but when I get close to a sign, building , car, or anything the buzzers goes off when pulling into a parking space or backing out, also if a pedestrian walks past me in clear view it buzzes too; I have settings on normal. Now the lane assist doesn't do anything I have tried it out and zilch, nata no buzzing, wheel shake, or anything, I wonder if settings on strict mode if it would work. Only way to find out is to change the settings.

The first thing you're talking about sounds more like the parking assist stuff, unless I'm misunderstanding your explanation of "buzzers".

could be, lane departure doesn't work and the guys running beside me setting the buzzer off must have something to do with pedestrians doesn't , not parking? I don't have to be moving for that to happen, that occurred at the dealers when I was taking delivery I was dumbfounded when that happened have never owned a vehicle that did that before.

The lane departure issue is a separate problem. A stupid question would be do you have the settings correct for that?

The parking sensors also do the cross-traffic alert stuff as well. If someone is walking, driving, moving in any way into your path (front or back) while you're moving a slow speed, it'll notify you of that so you don't hit the guy crossing or get T-boned by that idiot doing 30mph through the parking lot.

Well the setting say I have lane departure on normal like all the other stuff and everything is on, I guess if I cared enough I would go to the dealer and see if anyone can check it.
No big deal I still have two eyes , a brain and all the facilities to make a defensive judgement call for pedestrians vehicles or any such thing.
