I used the Mothers synthetic clay bar to smooth up the hood and front fenders on my new truck. Ist time I've tried it and though pricey its durable seems safe and very effective. Its also easier and faster than the real clay and like clay you can use it again about 20 times..

I have a friend who uses the Mothers synthetic on his black BMW and really likes it. I used a clay mitt for the first time back in October. I liked it a lot better than the clay bars as you can cover more surface with them and if you drop it you wash it off and re-use them,I think you can with the Mothers synthetic too. The key to any claying is a lot of lube, more is better. I was surprised at how contaminated the paint was but once done it was smooth as silk.

Outlet on the ranger is ID 2.75” by micrometer , 2.76 in some places..

Exhaust (tube) is measured by OD. Tube is measured by OD, pipe by ID. The funny part is the term tube and pipe get used interchangeably with respect to exhaust. I'm guilty of it myself on occasion. I'll go away now....

That looks pretty good on there!
Thanks! Honestly I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I think the combination of the black on white with the tailgate letters to accent dresses up the back end ;)

I was amazed at the amount as well and the mothers clay gives two options...One with soapy water and the other with detail spray. I opted to try the spray option first as you get quicker feed back that way. It is not only smoother to look at and touch but the drag on the microfiber is less and more quiet. Compared to the real clay this was very easy. The bar fits nicely into you palm so that makes it easier to use too..

I added a picture of my hood. Your truck looks nice.

just finished late last night the Rough Country 2.5 level kit, beware it did not come with all hardware from RC, only the studs and nuts only. Also make sure to not drop the LCA to low or it will pull the cv joint out from the axle and it is not a fun job to re stab with the boot on and doing it blind. Also added the 4' stubby antenna and a smoked out Led 3rd brake light ( must drop headliner to install from inside of truck ). Next few days will be LED headlights(highs/lows).

Your hood looks like a mirror!

I was going to just use soapy water but I had a bottle of spray detailer and that gives you more slip/lube so I went that route too. After each panel I did the "bag test" where you put your hand in a plastic baggie and you can feel if there's still any imperfections. The first couple panels I had to do over as I was being to cautious with the clay and there was still quite a bit crud left in the paint. Like you said now the microfiber just glides right over the finish.

What did I do to the Ranger........Paid it off......:party::party::beer::beer::flag:

Was going to wait until the Spring but I used my HELOC to pay off the loan and get me the title.....I noticed my "introductory" rate was 3%....It just went up to 6.5% Screw B of A . Not paying over 4% interest on any vehicle.

I don't like having loans against my home..I don't recommend it. I used the HELOC for a lower rate at the time temporarily. They said my introductory rate was over...Why would anyone pay 6.5% interest if they have alternatives?

Please pardon my ignorance, but what is a HELOC? I don't ever borrow money, so I don't always know the terms.
