2019 Backup Camera is on acid

I have a 2019 and the backup camera is on acid. It shows a really blurry/crazy image almost as if one of the RGB cables is broken or something... I've taken it into the dealer multiple times and they always tell me it'll be $2k to replace it.

My dad has a 2019 F-150. Today he got a recall notice for the EXACT SAME type of issue my Ranger is having. HIs backup camera is fine though.

So if they are recalling it for the F-150, how come there's no recall for the ranger? Has anyone else had the same issues with their backup camera?

Try disconnecting the cable to the tailgate and reconnecting it to see if it clears up. Also, check for water or corrosion in the connectors.

2019 - 2023 Ford Ranger back up camera install/swap

I had a similar issue with my camera. I went to replace it, but I found a massive amount of dust in and around the connector. I blew into it like an N64 cartridge. For me the fix was $Free.99

I just went through this on mine. I replaced the tailgate wiring harness and camera and what ended up actually fixing the issue was installing the original harness and camera. Makes no sense to me. I’m chalking it up to ford being ford

edit to add: there is a recall and while my 19 was displaying each of the issues stated in the recall, was not part of the recall. Wouldn’t hurt to spray some electrical cleaner on all plug areas

Oh I certainly have, mostly good experiences , back in the day stuff, late 70's and all the 80's , the tinest little pills ive ever seen and those little stamps with the cool characters... suger cubes and dropper also.., crazy times that I blame on my willingness to precipitate in...

Went to the summer jam in 73 at the Watkins Glen racetrack, the road with the garages for the race cars was turned into a giant drug bazaar with dealers hawking their wares , bud and I bought and took a hit of acid, it was dusk and we walked on the racetrack thinking we knew where we camped , we were hopelessly lost so my friend does the logical thing-has another hit of acid. So he finds a hat on the track and is so wasted he thinks it's a dog , petting and talking to it. Anyways we wander for hrs until exhausted and come across 2 ladies up partying, tell us we can crash in their tent we do and later on they come in looking for some action but we were so spent we just said let us sleep , they booted us a few hrs later and the sun rose and we staggered back to our campsite. That concert some still say is the largest gathering ever in n America. From what i recall Allman bros stole the show.

Had exactly the same issue on my 2019. I removed the camera, cleaned all the connections as well as the camera, applied dielectric grease to the connections and hooked it all back up. Did all this about a year and a half ago and it is working fine. Good luck sir.

When this happened to mine before the appointment to have it checked out I had to get into the bed for something and slammed the tailgate when done. camera worked like normal when I got back into the drivers seat. happened one more time, got out and slammed the tailgate and back to normal. Hasn't happened since.

Pull the tailgate harness connector apart and clean and reseat the connector.

Your tailgate when closing is pinching the connector. Same thing was happening to me. I put a protective sheath around it and tried to bend it back to the original position. IMO its a poor wire routing choice.
