If you had read my posts in the passed, you will remember I am the guy with the 2019 Ranger LEMON. Ford repurchased it after the truck was in the Ford Dealership 12 times for a total of 16 days with an unsolvable electronic problem. The truck was turned in on July 13th. I ordered a 2020 on the same day. It arrived on December 16th at 2:00 PM (but who is counting). Great to be back in the drivers seat. No obvious changes except the owners manual is 25 pages shorter and the rear seat Head Restraints NO LONGER PIVOT TO ALLOW FULL VIEWING OUT, USING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. BAD REDESIGN!

Congrats and bummer about the head reset...can you just remove them until you need them?

You deserve a new ranger for all you've been through. I'm surprised you didn't go to another brand. I sure would. Your new truck is going to be fine. Welcome back

You are correct. I am at a lose as to this change. Yes, they can be removed, but that defeats their purpose; It will leave your back seat passengers less protected. In the mean time, the driver has much less visibility out the back window.

Really? My headrests stay up and do not impede the view in the rear view mirror at all.

Glad you got your 2020......but it didnt happen w/o pics.

Does the change in the headrests do anything about the back seat folding flat(er)? The only way the seat folds as far as it does now is if you move the headrests down.

It is a curious change....

I don't recall if these headrests are the same size; you judge I am including a photo. Yes, the back folds down as in the 2019. Hounddog409 I have a Lariat, Crew Cab. Not sure of your configuration but if you look at my photo there is a major blockage of the view. The back window is 384 sq. inches, the two headrests combined are 120 sq. inches. 120/384=31% blockage, THATS A BUNCH !

That stinks as I really love the way they tilt out of the way. I'd love to know what the bean counters saved on this one:question:When it comes time for my next Ranger in a couple years if they're still like this I'm taking mine out from this Ranger as long as long as the colors the same.

. . . THATS A BUNCH
I'm happy you are back in a Ranger and don't want to add to your woes, but since you brought it up . . . my 2019 Lariat Crew stoned leather seats are nice and flat. Yours look like they're all bunched up - kinda like they were fitted by a vision impaired worker on a Friday. Could be I'm wrong and it's just the picture. I hope. Headrests look about the same.

Lone, you are correct. I made the same comment to my wife after the photo. It looks like I will be doing some research at the dealership.

Again, not to add to your woes . . . this picture was identified as a 2020 Stone Lariat. You can see the seat backs. But, also, at the very edge, upper left, you can see the head rest release button. Someone at Ford owes you an explanation.

Hi Bob,

There is no button on the side of the two larger headrests to fold them down? You pix does not show the outboard side if either headrests. What does page 117 of your owners manual show...does it indicate a fold down button? I am guessing this was an MCR....Material Cost Reduction...I hated these initiatives as failure to meet the MCR objjective always impacted your end of the year bonus...

Best,

Lone, I thing the photo you are refereeing too is a 2019. That release button is not on my headrests. BUT, because the headrest don't pivot, the rear seat back does NOT fold down all the way but stops on the front seat back. I will be at the dealership looking at 2019's and 20's if they have them. Thank you for your input.
