Going to change trans fluid and filter, was wondering if there was a diy write up on it. I remember reading something about a piece you have to take off old filter and put on the new one.
I just dropped mine off at Ford, and they told me 329 to do a fluid flush but then the called and said this vehicle has no way to hook up to do a flush (10 Speed Transmission) and said they would have to drop the pan and replace the filter and fluid at a cost of over $700. Does this sound right to you all? I declined the service until I can understand why and more about the issues with the 10 Speed transmission as far as servicing.
When working in a chlor-alkali plant in Michigan, the chlorine compressor sucked in some sandblasting dust through the crankcase breather.
We could not shut down and could not keep running, a helluva conundrum. So we drained 1/2 of the crank case oil while running and replaced the 50%, with new oil.. Did this for every 2 hour, 12 Hours straight.
Every time, checked the oil for metal, silica etc. at each 1/2 drain. At the end of 12 hrs. Contaminants GONE!
No shut down, no screwed up bearings, no piston, rings or cylinder damage.
God knows we were GOOD!!
