Probably too much lol I’m one of those guys that believes in being prepared for everything… I’d rather have it and not need it type of mindset.

I have a basic tool set I keep under the back seat, headlamp, jumper cables, portable air pump, rifle behind the back seat with some extra mags, gmrs radio hardwired into the dash, couple MRE’s, med kit, sleeping bag, wool blanket, extra sweatshirt… I think that’s it right now. Changes with weather lol

In the bed boxes I keep tow straps and snatch bocks, tire repair kit, more tools, bungee cords, ratchet straps, tarps, tire chains, and some camping stuff. I have an overland rack with gas cans, water cans, and traction boards.

Probably excessive but like I said, I’d rather have it and not need it than be stuck without it. We live up in the foothills so I get a little paranoid sometimes about not being able to get home for whatever reason. Especially with how many wildfires we get up there. If anything, helps me sleep better knowing my truck is always ready to go and I don’t have to scramble to pack stuff up if we need to leave.

I like the way you think and I agree with you. In the passenger side of the back seat I have two spare hoodies, two spare jackets, my work jacket, an extra pair of clean tennis shoes and in same side in the back floor the neccessary equipment for changing a flat and the spare tire is bungee strapped in the bed. A pair of cheap sunglasses in the center console and that's it 😎🤘

We know how messy adventures can get — mud, spills, dust, and everything in between. That’s why our waterproof seat covers are designed to keep your interior safe and looking fresh. After every trip, all it takes is a quick wipe to clean, saving you time and effort.

No more worrying about stains or long cleaning sessions. Just focus on the road (or off-road) ahead and enjoy the ride. 🌲🏞

My list would be too long but if I had to narrow it down to ONE...it would have to be my Weathertech floor trays...I drive like I'm on my couch...socks or barefoot so having a tray that I can pull out everyday to dump or wash as necessary then slip off my shoes once in the driver seat...

That’s a solid approach. Out of curiosity, what essentials do you usually keep in the truck to make it more useful?
I keep my automotive tools and cordless drill/driver in the box. I've done this for over 20 yrs. I could rebuild an engine (minus a ring compressor). 70# tool box and 30# canvas wrench bag. Also jumper cables, tow strap and a 2' long 1/2" breaker bar for my boat trailer wheels.
We have a second summer home and I need my tools at each house. I have pipe wrench in the tool bag.
Two houses eventually means duplicate DIY tools. Seems the tool I need is always at the other house.

Ever since installing it's kept passengers mysteriously quiet. 🤔

Sid, does this name ring any bells?
Allen Gaines of the Orange Blossom Special pulling trucks. He also liked to drive in his socks, because he had a better feel for the pedals.

I can see that.
I used to drive my Freightliner in my sock feet for that reason.

Chris, at least you saw where I was going with this. The first time ever saw one the Orange Blossom Special pulling trucks was on a VHS tape that Dad had recorded and it was the 85 Ford Ranger with the full stock interior in it. Long story short, Allen Gaines made the full pull easily and when he opened the door to get out he was in his socks and putting his cowboy boots on. The event was Minneapolis, MN 87 I believe.

Chris, out of curiosity. What year model Freightliner did you have?

Bought it used in Salt Lake City. It was formerly a CR England fleet truck.
