Finally got my Ranger back from warrantied transmission repair. Is this what has been the common issue?

Just want to get back on the transmission problems I have been having with my 2022 Ranger. The original transmission was replaced. The replacement transmission was problematic to say the least.

After two weeks at the dealership I was told they performed a PCM module configuration and the problem is resolved. Interestingly, they told me they had never seen a transmission problem like this.

For others reference, attached is the documentation on what they did.

Interesting, they say they cleared a DTC ( trouble code) but didn’t state what the code was ?

Steve, the main code coming up indicated it had something to do with the auto start stop. I did turn off the start stop with Forscan. When I turned it back on the problem was still there. My Ranger was built during the COVID shutdown when the supply chain was disrupted. Maybe there were some defective parts installed.

Well I finally got my truck transmission repaired.
It took 7 weeks to get all the parts in. I took it in when they had the parts. Had it 3 days.
Under warranty by 3 day days on the 5 year. Mileage was 14,780.
I do not see the CDR in the parts invoice though.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The transmission stopped leaking as there is no more trans fluid on the garage floor. This transmission now has 2500 miles.
I'm late to this thread, but if the leak stopped I wonder if they overfilled the transmission.

This would definitely cause all manner of craziness in shifts due to foaming fluid resulting in poor fluid circulation, high fluid temps and ultimately damage to clutches that then releases contaminants that adversely affect the solenoids (sticking) in the valve body.

I just got approval from my local ford dealer for a CDF drum replacement and full rebuild of my transmission under warranty. Dealer said they performed the test in the TSB and it passed, but it was definitely exhibiting symptoms on the test drive so they sent it to Ford for approval. My guess is that class action suit mentioned might be making Ford be a bit more lenient on solving these problems.

Update: The transmission tech who did my rebuild said that the scoring on my CDF drum was the worst he had seen. Photo attached. It passed the test in the most recent TSB and wasn't throwing any codes, but the technician said it was definitely not shifting right. The clutch plates were also completely destroyed so I got those replaced under warranty as well. I also have a Fitzstick installed and they didn't say anything about it in terms of voiding the warranty.

That image is of the outer shell or “trash can” which was replaced in your repair. This failure would probably explain why it didn’t show up in the CDF drum test.

Makes sense. Attached my copies of the work order of what they replaced. Looks like they did the CDF drum and cluch plates as well as the outer trash can.

You had a good tech. Caught the problem and resolved it.
