Don't over think it, or over work it. Just lay the liner back up where it goes, the magnets will hold anywhere along that outer edge. Just use black ones, not chrome ones like me lol. I bought a 10 pack of these years ago to put on all my oil filters and couldn't be bothered to buy new black ones.

Thanks for the picture. Parts will be here tomorrow, will report back the results.

When I installed my Amp Research Steps, I upgraded to better puddle lights. I didn't want to drill hoses to mount the lights, so I epoxied magnets to the lights and stuck them on the frame rails. They have not moved in 5 years, through all manner of weather. I don't even think about them. They come on when the steps lower, and fade off when the steps retract.

Man, I still enjoy those steps!
I'm pretty sure my puddle lights that came with my AMP steps came with magnets already installed... at least, they are also stuck to the frame magnetically, and have been fantastic for years. Love those steps. :)

This is a nice quick and dirty solution for sure. I have magnets like these stuck to the drain plugs of my rear and center diff... and they stay put really well.

Bottom line......magnets or some type of insert/nuts are going to be better than the plastic clips Ford uses.
The plastic clips have their uses, but not on something that has to be removed on a regular basis to perform maintaince.

I bought new from the Ford dealership with 6 miles on the clock, 2 where mine from the test drive.
Interesting! Yours is a 2022 Tremor? I wonder if Ford switched to bolts on the Tremors.... or switched to bolts on newer years... mine's a '19, and I was pretty sure all 5G rangers came with the stupid plastic clips.... but I guess not?

Go to Amazon and search for Heavy Duty Neodymium Cup Magnets. Get them in black coating, 1 to 1.25 diameter. They come with different "weight ratings".....go for 80-100 lbs.
I got a pack of 6 for $10 bucks, almost 3 years ago and their still as new and do not shift/slip at all.

Yes my 2022 has the 10mm bolts as well, so yes Ford modified the way it attaches.
I think it’s been noted somewhere that the change occurred mid 2021 or so.

Odd. My '23 (bought new by me) has the stupid plastic clips and I need to change that out for my next oil change for sure! So if they changed to bolts, it looks like they changed back...
