So recently I got my hands on a pair of Wavian Fuel Cans(decided to convert from RotoPax). Well after getting them mounted to my roof rack I noticed that the holder for the spout is a bit weak and can easily allow the spout to come off from bumps and stuff. What I'm curious about is what solutions have individuals come up with to keep the spout on the can with little to no issues?

The part it mounts on the can

The spout in question at this time(don't worry as I'm waiting for a non eco spout as we speak)

I store mine separately in one of my cargo boxes. It can't fall off when in the middle of nowhere.
It also minimizes the exposure of the plastic to the sun.
As much as I thought about that, I was also wondering about the lovely fuel smell when you do end up using the cans. I know for me it'll get used often enough where that fuel smells going to get real old real fast

Frenchy, agree with your concern with the fuel smell.
The plastic holder is very flimsy. I just checked mine, and one of the rivets is already missing. Only had it a year, used once.
Interested to see what our other members have figured out.

Could also look into a shaker siphon since you already have those mounted on your rack. Cheap, fast, reliable.

Not happening. I like to fill my tanks to the brim. I just filled them a couple of minutes ago which is pretty convenient lol. Having them lay on their side like this makes it where I can't use a siphon without spilling right away.

Edit: I also forgot about the fire suppressor in the neck of the tank. I'm sure it's easy to pull, but I'm going to leave it be. Because of that a shaker siphon will not work at all.

Drill a couple small holes in the plastic and use reusable zip ties or short bungy cords to hold spout in place. Looking closer at the photo, bungy or Velcro strip through the carry handles and around the spout should do it.

I didn't think of the Velcro, but it makes sense. I might give that a shot

Well a solution has been made(for now at least). While at Lowes today I found some Velcro straps for extension cords to hand in the garage. I found them to do just fine for this. Simple and effective!

Info for those with the spring loaded Wavian nozzles....The kind where you have to try and hold the tank and pull back on the nozzle end to start the flow...
You can take the nozzle apart and remove the spring assembly.....this allows you to simply push the end and the flow will start. When done, just pull the nozzle end out and it will "click" closing the flow.
Eliminates the need for "3 hands" to use the Wavian tank.

Let us know how these work out. I stopped using metal cans a while ago and stick with plastic. After having 3 of my gas cans split from expanding and contracting with weather and altitude changes, I don’t trust them. Nothing like getting to work and finding 5 gallons of gas sloshing around in your bed lol

Its a good application to 3D print your own holder.

Keep in mind that these are not the typical cheap cans you get from Walmart or harbor freight. These are NATO Spec cans made in Latvia. These have been known to do very well vs the cheap knockoffs.

I did notice that from a different post. Then again I also have two non EPA spouts on the way, so we shall see.

The ones I had were supposedly milspec too but I got them on amazon. Most likely knockoffs.
