Hi folks,

The finish on my shift plate (the piece with the gear indicators) is damaged and I want to replace it. Can anyone tell me how to remove it (i.e. what has to come off, etc) or point me to a video?

And a warning to others....all I did was wipe the area with an Armor All Cleaning Wipe and the finish came off. Might have something to do with the extreme heat wave we are having right now.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the heads up, I have a couple of those wipes and would probably try to use them someday, not any more.

I really do think the heat had something to do with it. I used the wipe soon after starting up and it was insanely hot inside . Doesn’t say much for the finish quality. I’ve those wipes many times with no issue.

I wonder if the shift plate will fit over the shift knob. Guess I'll find out. This is exactly what I needed....thanks!

it does, but you will need to put the shifter in D.
To clarify.....I meant the piece I need to replace......the piece with the gear indicators. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to remove the shift knob.

oh, yeah... that piece will need the shift knob to come off. Sorry, I was thinking the full surround.

Looks like it's pretty easy to take the shift knob off. But, of course, I can manage to screw up even the simple jobs!
