What's his Instagram? I want to check that out, not making it to sema this year, thanks!

It was just a pic bud, sorry :(. He has all my information that I sent him, address, email etc even my phone number i think. Haven’t heard from him at all. Sema is almost over, I’m not poss. I suspect he will be around shortly. Btw has anyone seen his Instagram? His rig turned out real nice and was in a pretty cool booth.

did you get the geometry wrong and the damper is fully extended and therefor pulling on the bracket?
or does it flex because of something else?
I was just thinking the exact same thing. Sounds like that damper is fully extended...

It’s definitely not fully extending, it’ll extend another 3/4” or so past when unhooked and the tailgate is down.

The length of the screw ataching to Damper to the bracket looks longer than the DEE ZEE design which would give your Damper more leverage on the Bracket. Also the pressure of the Damper may be greater than the DEE ZEE design that would also increase the amount of stress the damper puts on the bracket. Third, the attachment location on the Tailgate itself is much closer to the end of the Tailgate which increases the pressure on the Damper increasing stress on the upper mount. All I can tell you is the DEE ZEE design doesn't have any visible flex in my installation.
I looked at my installation which used the Amazon kit intended for non NA Rangers. My installation is like yours. I checked and there is no flexing of the bed structure on my installation. Is the flexing you see in the bed sheet metal structure or just the bracket you made flexing away from the bed structure ?
Interesting, I never thought about the stud being long and it looks like it is. The flexing is definitely in the panel of the truck because under the bright LED lights in my garage I can see the shiny part of the paint moving. Either way I’m pretty sure I’m over analyzing it and just going to keep using it... thanks for the comments and also to @rpeterson53 for the thread on how to make it!

I just came back from a frustrating experience at my local dealer. Because I ordered the tailgate damper prior to the public November 4th release date, my dealer never actually ordered the part from Ford Corporate. However I didn't leave today until they submitted the parts request, and hopefully it will arrive in 7 business days.

They said there were none in stock in the West Coast, but a dealership in Ohio turned up 10.

Best to order from Ford Accessories Website. They then ship directly from DEE ZEE either to your Dealer or to your home!

Next question for any of you that have the Deezee damper and are in a cold climate - does it lower very slow in the cold? My ROW one does and it’s only a few degrees below zero here.

"only a few degrees below zero here." WTF, you say that like it's normal for humans to exist in a climate like that.

Doesn’t everything react in a very slow way at those frigid temps? Here in Florida we’re coping with 64 frickin degrees thus morning!

Haha I just realized that and was about to say something. Damn Americans. We should have switched to metric about 140 years ago. :headbang: I hate SAE so much.

Hahahaha tragic! I somehow survived Florida for 21 years. It's incredible really, what a wasteland.
