Yea, for that money if it had been available when I bought mine I definitely would have given it a try.

--edit--

Be careful though. PPE had an issue with their first pans with smashing into the pump. If it were me, before I went to yeeting on the bolts to tighten them up, I would put the pan in place sans gasket and feel if it has any interference issue with the pump. If it doesn't when there's no gasket, you should be good-to-go.

Thanks for that. Sure hope it doesn’t because then the plastic pan would have another 30k on my truck. I hit 25k on the new transmission at 100k. Im at 98k now. Couple of weeks ill slap it on. But once it comes in I can provide pics and dimensions.

Doing struts, plugs, and drive shaft lube first. Be like a brand new truck.

I purchased one of the original PPE deep pans and worried about the pump interference issue. I called them up wanting them to exchange my new old designed for the newer pan. I even gave them the original note outlining the problem. They discounted it and said it was a "one off", and to install it and if I had a problem to call them and they would make good on it.

I didn't like the answer, but installed it and waited for the squeal. All quiet! I though about dropping a bore scope that the tube, but mine doesn't flex enough to check it out. I may still do it just to see if there is any pink plastic in the bottom of the pan.

The pan the OP is discussing does not have the raised shoulders in the front of the pan like the PPE pan has. I think it is OK. Curious if it holds the same amount of fluid. It looks shallower at the back.

Just read through this document. They had a lot to say. Sobering, and I think accurate.

Their upgraded valve body is more expensive than the entire 4x4 transmission from Ford. ~$3500

Below are a few of the key points.

Take Aways
  • Ford cheaped out
  • Valve Body is where the trouble begins
  • Fluid change Interval 25K miles
  • CDF Drum failure due to overheating
  • Transmission Pan too small and with poor structural characteristics and heat dissipation
  • Torque Converter causes extreme excessive heat - poorly manufactured with cheap materials
  • Don't expect 100K miles if you
    - tune your engine
    - go with oversize tires
    - don't change your fluid religiously

Ford 10R80 Transmission • Problems, Solutions & Upgrades

My 2nd or 3rd concern would be with the internal baffling.

Not sure that I would be too worried about that. The filter sits down pretty close to the bottom, which means it is almost completely submerged. I doubt you could get enough sloshing unless you're doing things you probably ought not be doing.

Its marketed as an oem replacement made with better materials and a drain plug. I would not expect better cooling out of it to be honest. I just want a drain plug. Being aluminum with help ten fold over plastic for heat anyway. Considering this transmission is heated by coolant, there is only so much additional cooling that can he had.

And the original plastic pan doesn't have baffles

I'm not liking the lack of integrated gasket in the picture. Pretty sure PPE and Mishimoto have them.

PPE uses the factory gasket. Mishimoto does not.

I prefer the PPE. Simply because you'll likely always be able to get the OEM gasket. Mishimoto could just decide that they won't make any more and you'd be down to making your own with bulk o-ring material and superglue. While not the end of the world. I'll just stick with an OEM gasket, they're actually pretty decent gaskets.

In reality the Mishimoto Oring should last a long time.....

Factory gasket is a lifetime gasket I believe. At least ford used to be.
