I’ve got a 2022 Ranger XLT with remote start. It seems like I’m unable to change any of the settings on my climate control after i remote start the truck. Seems like it’s stuck in whatever settings the truck was in did remote start. I can press all the buttons and the lights come on, but it doesn’t seem to be changing any of the actual settings and no air blows out of the vents. Turning the car off then back on again fixes the issue. This is a new issue that has just started, and I’ve had the vehicle for about 2.5 years. Anyone seen this before or know how to fix?

Mine is a lariat and it starts with the climate control set in the app. When you get in with the key you have to depress the brake and push the start button to be able to change anything before driving.

Under remote start, My XLT senses ambient temperature it seems, and will either heat or cool depending on what it senses...until I put the key in and turn it on and then it will do whatever I had the climate control set on when I shut it off.
It's done that since day one, so what you describe sounds normal to me.

I’ve also had what you are describing, but when I start the vehicle I can’t even turn the AC on or off. I basically don’t have any control of the climate controls until after turn the truck off then back on

So, this only happens via (Remote Start) and when you transition the (Key or PB) to run, the Sync Screen stays stuck in (Remote Start-Status) - (Greyed Out)
But with normal start (PB or Key) all is normal?

The FCIM is not seeing the (ISP-R) Ignition Switch Position-Run) signal, it must have that signal to fully power it up.

Try - Pulling Fuse #12 (BCM - Fuse Box) for 5-Minutes and re-install and or do a FCIM Self-Test (Reset) via Scan Tool or Forscan.

Are you changing the settings via the steering wheel control (in the truck menu)? There are two options in the menu "Automatic" and something like "Last Set"

None of the controls on the dash should have any effect when it has been remotely started.

I will verify that this only happens from a remote start. I think I tested that but i can’t remember. I do know the last 3 times I remote started, I had no ability to get the AC to turn on.

i still can press buttons on the display screen and on the center portion, but they don’t actually do anything. The lights come on but they don’t change turn on the AC or change the fan speed at all

No I’m not changing any setting via the steering wheel. I’m trying all of the physical buttons on the center portion and they have no effect

They're not supposed to when you've remote started the vehicle.

They are essentially 'off' and the HVAC is controlled by the BCM (or some other module).

You need to choose in the menu whether you want the truck to use the last settings you had, or if you want it to take its best guss and do it automatically.

If you pick 'last setting' from that menu the truck will crank with the last settings you left it at, but you still won't be able to change anything. You'll have to set the climate control the way you want it to be on your next remote start before you shut the truck off.

Or, are you saying that you remote start, get in the truck and begin drivin off, and the center stack still doesn't work?

yes to the second part of your statement. Just to clear what is happening, I’ll go through the full process:

- I remote start the truck
- I get in the truck, put the key in the ignition, then turn it to the run position.
- I then begin driving the truck
- I attempt to turn on the AC on via the center stack, but not it does not turn on (the lights on the buttons change, but no actual changes occur)
- I attempt to put on the heat and change the fan speed, but neither of those work
- I turn the truck off then back on with the key, and then I am able to adjust settings on the center stack

When it is remote started, you do not have control (Screen Greyed) out but is the HVAC operating like it should via your (IPC Menu) selection or is it also completely dead and nothing happening?
Just to clarify (No HVAC) or (No Control of HVAV that is operating)
If this is only with Remote Start - Then I am thinking the IPC selection signal is the issue as you are able to key cycle off and restart and it works normally.

Try deselecting the (Climate - Option) to off to disable it, cycle the ignition and then reselect it (Either Auto or Last Setting) as I am thinking this data is not being transmitted to the FCIM, when you cycle the key (after remote start) the IPC and FCIM data are not syncing together.
This is my hunch

I believe that fixed it! Thank you!
