thank you, my good man!

I hate Internet and forum arguments. But I really hate rude people who call you out and aren’t even right. I don’t argue back I just pick what they say apart and hopefully they aren’t too stubborn and can see the problem in what they wrote!

I’m gonna stay positive here and hope all of the aggressive behavior ends because I was enjoying a lot of conversations and hearing a lot of great things until a dark cloud came.

I’m here to get along and learn… Also enjoy being around others who have the same hobby.

All this other BS needs to quit
Thats why we are all here. Share experiences and help each other. Maybe slip in the occasional innuendo here and there. See I just did it.

lol, I live for creative ways to incorporate innuendo. I’m glad the Ranger is so capable and has that power, because it allows you to drive deep into places that hopefully a few people have ever been! She’s the perfect ride for that ? (oh damn, that wasn’t cryptic at all. Sorry, I couldn’t just leave it alone lol)

But for real, letting others know our experiences & helping each other along with having some fun is really the purpose and should be the only thing… Well innuendo as well, but that’s covered in the having fun portion!!

If your mind is in the gutter like mine was at the time, the last paragraph now sounds like a double entendre! Whoops

Rock on, brother!

Here is the math it used, I did not check it but I know there have been times I have seen chatgpt be wrong when I asked it computer related things I knew for certain.

It did make me realize how small gains in MPG add up. I usually don't care but was just something I thought of to justify the BOV.
Yeah, but I like your thought process!

If anything, it is helpful! The other part you can add in is what is the value of the joy brought on by that sound? It’s gotta at least be 50 bucks right? Probably more! Others might feel the other way so it’s a personal preference of course! Similar to opportunity cost…

The interaction with the transmission guy at the dealer, when I called him the trans guy, was priceless. We laughed so hard the service writer asked if we were friends, because he typically hates people. Good fun. But I still needed a new transmission so there was that.

That’s a pretty classic scenario in my book! Apparently the guy just doesn’t like people who don’t have a good sense of humor… A twisted, yet good sense of humor!

And yes, I am also twisted so that’s actually meant to be a compliment. Even that’s twisted haha!!

For some reason, posting your results that a BOV could slightly increase mpg will attract all sorts of naysayers. God forbid we document and share the results of our mods. Isn't that what this place is all about?

Those dumb Ford engineers left 3 mpg on the table. Sure. I believe you.
Why bother getting a tune? Didn't the ford engineers do the BEST job ever tuning from factory? Shouldn't you keep the Ranger stock as ford knows best??

Many people have posted similar results, but a bunch of old dudes here are so quick to throw stones as soon as we mention there might be gains from a mod ?

No! I do not only show up in MPG threads. As anyone who has been on this forum for a while can attest. I just do not post much in the threads on performance and off-road threads as that is not of interest to me.

This was NOT an MPG thread, it was an blow-off valve thread until the OP turned it into a MPG discussion by posting three pictures of his mileage with virtually no explanation of what he was trying to show immediately after he posted about how the valve increased his mileage.

I was merely trying to point out that those three examples, which appear to be consecutive are not long enough to prove anything.
What have you brought to this community except skepticism and doubting others real world experience with mods?

I posted something similar with a couple hundred miles of mpg data after the BOV and downpipe upgrade, but that wasn't enough for you. You just had to throw shade and doubt our results.

Why not just stay in the boring threads about tailgate dampers or something, because you don't seem to have any experience with performance mods or BOVs.

"The computer mpg lies" sure pal, go yell at clouds while you're at it.

?

Sorry if I missed it in all the distraction but a couple of questions I still have.
Can a BOV increase MPG, at all?
Can you get a BOV that doesn't increase noise?
If so, which ones?

Careful now, some panties just got all knotted due to this question. cough cough bigblue and tuner Mike cough

But as I have experienced and others have noted here, yes a BOV can slightly increase mpg. Boost seems instant now with an aftermarket BOV.

Yes, turbosmart makes one with and without sound. Maybe others do too, idk.

Ok, so since MPG was a point of interest as well as throttle response and some of the claims on the marketing pages (thought the adult version was just for reliability).

The ROI if I spent $250 on the BOV (chatgpt did the math).

MPG GainAnnual Fuel SavingsROI
+1 MPG~$237.50-5%
+2 MPG~$449.50+80%
+3 MPG~$630.00+152%

I am still skeptical but it does not cost much so will be interesting.
Out of curiosity what was the $/per gal of fuel used?
Because California right now in the SF Bay Area is still north of $5 for 91…
So for me even 1 mpg better makes the ROI even more..

(These prices are for 87 add .15 for 89 and roughly .25-.35 for 91.)
Oh nice gas is down about 10 cents since I got gas on Sunday.

soo that’s why I am curious as to the fuel price that was used..

Plumb back/recirculate one works just like the oem. Getting a CAi sometimes even makes the oem one audible at times.
What you’re looking for is one that doesn’t VTA (vent to atmosphere)
GFB has one and Turbosmart has one aswell.
