I figure anything besides the stock snap open/slam shut is going to do something.

It says somewhere in the instructions or a video to clean and oil it every 10-15k with a few drops of regular motor oil

I noticed my balkingness and flat spot throttle response was back so I checked on the GFB DV and the brass piston was stuck. Kinda got crooked and wedged in one spot.
Maybe because I left the spring out but anyway I’m done with it.

If anyone wants to try one I’m putting this one up FS.

So I see this is only $125 at AMAZON
May give it a try.

I just read thru all 19 pages; screw threads, IP and AliExpress... oh my!
I wont get into where to buy that's up to the buyer.
But, from an engineering stand point changing self tapping plastic screws to machine screws is not ideal. If the machine screw is smaller it will "work" but as one user commented stripping would be a major concern. Long term plastic cracking or screws loosening could be an issue. But users have also commented on having these installed for years, so maybe low risk.
IMHO the mfg cheaped out by not sourcing a matching longer plastic screw rather that a machine screw. An OEM would NEVER use a machine screw in plastic.

Well like I said I am interested and have not bought anything for my Ranger in a while! ?

Wonder if it's a knockoff. OEM is self-tapping into plastic. Those of us that upgraded to aftermarket intercooler charge pipes use threaded now.

EDIT TO ADD: I wonder if leaving the spring out contributed to the jam?

Just installed mine! Haven’t driven it on the road yet. I like how much more heavy duty the GFB internals are compared to the stock valve. Wonder how it will perform under boost conditions now that it’s partially close/opening. I just chipped the plastic piece that’s needs to be taken off of the top part solenoid. If I return to stock I’d probably buy the upgraded aftermarket DV from turbosmart.

Contacted GFB also and asked about maintenance of the brass piston with cleaning/re-oil and they said:

“There is no need to periodically maintain your valve, it has been designed as a maintenance free part. Although, there is no harm in visually checking any automotive component periodically for peace of mind, especially if the car is an offroad vehicle.”
I think I’ll check mine after 20k. Can’t really use the sport package off road..

Since this thread is a sticky, I figured I'd post this in here. Someone may find it useful. Or, maybe it's already a known thing and I'm slow to figure things out.

A week or so ago, I upgraded my charge pipes. During the swap, the longer screws for my DV+ went to be with the 10mm sockets, never to be seen again. The screws that came with the new charge pipes were sized for the factory diverter.

I temporarily used the TurboSmart dual port that I have, since it would bolt on with the shorter screws. In the meantime, I contacted GFB and found out the screws they send are 35mm long. The screws needed for the aFe charge pipes are M6x1. So, went to Home Depot and got M6x1x35's and they worked great.

I remember reading that some people did not like the screws GFB sends. So, if anyone is getting one and is looking for different screws... M6x1x35, from Home Depot.
