Why would anyone get the 3.3L VCT when the better 2.7L ecoboost is available for F150 (other than the few $$ cost diff)?

What Ford is facing now is self destruction of the "F150 best truck" sales claim, because the 2021 Ranger with v6 engine option will take away a lot of F150 sales !! But, overall still good for Ford shareholders.

The 5G and 6G Rangers are fairly big pup's. The full size have just gotten ridiculous (unless you REALLY need that).
I'd bet they will only take away marginal sales from the F 150. Ford thought they would force buyers into the F 150 when the discontinued the Ranger but that didn't happen. Many went out and bought the Tacoma or similar because they did not want full size truck.

I always had an F 150 but when I sold my business and moved to AZ I had no need for one so I bought a Tacoma. I didn't like it and was so glad that Ford brought the Ranger back! There will always be a need for a larger truck, just go to any job site and that's about all you'll see. You could throw a V8 in the Ranger and sure some will decide to buy it (I would) over the F 150 but no way are they going to self destruct because of this. There is and always will be a need for a full size truck.:)

Wait 'til 10/31.. go to the dealership... it will be dead because everyone will be out trick or treating with their kids... end of month deals are to be had... pretend to not be all that interested... walk out if you have to, they'll stop you... oh.. and get the Ranger.. your welcome.

I was sold on the midsize trucks with my first one a Tacoma. I have a pretty good size boat and the bed is big enough to bring things home or to the boat. I also have a small trailer that I tow my Harley Davidson on, the Ranger does very well with this set up. Having the trailer if I need to carry something bigger I canUse the trailer. It was a no brainer for me.

If it is that close, include other factors. Does one have a better finance offer? What are the insurance costs on each? Is fuel economy important? Does the F-150 have SYNC 3 or the dinky screen?

It is tempting to think because the F-150 is a size bigger that you are getting more for your money. Don’t think that way, get what fits your lifestyle better and which vehicle you truly like better. If you don’t make that the main factor you’ll have regrets after the honeymoon period is over.

I did not say the F150 would destruct. I just think the Ford guys (buyers) will see the 2021 Ranger as a great alternative to the F150. 2021 Ranger will be capable, yet smaller.

I do agree that the Ranger is as good or a better alternative to the F 150 but you did say

Here in urban Honolulu a "mid size" truck is a no brainer, but that's my own unique situation.
The Ranger then is ideal, however I do suspect the exterior dimensions of the Ranger are similar to an early 80's F150.
While rare, there are a few SuperCrew F series duallys I've seen running around, cant even fathom a behemoth like that as a daily driver.
We've parking structures here where compact parking spaces are just 8 feet wide, you'd be hard pressed to maintain a ding free Ranger in that, a dually would definitely occupy 2 spaces.

I had the same issue tween a new 150 XLT and Ranger XLT - and I was paying cash no trade in. Both about the same price but I think the F150 had a few more bells and whistles.
I let my intuition (Gut) make the decision. You really know - deep down, what the answer is, what to do.
Got the Ranger and never looked back. So Happy with my decision even though it is not the comfy (L) size and extra capability not really needed. **But Hella easy to park, more fun to drive and amazing mileage! YMMV

I had a similar decision when I finally decided to purchase my Ranger. The Ranger handled better than the F150, fit my needs and I don't regret the purchase for one second. What I find funny is how the Ranger is almost as big as the F150s used to be.

This depends on your individual needs and tastes. Having driven both, I loved the interior space and comfort of the 150 but found it just too big to be practical, not for driving, obviously, but for parking in my garage, for parking garages generally, etc. The Ranger for me is a tad small on the inside but really easy to drive and park. What I love about the Ranger is the power and torque of the 2.3 L engine paired with the ten-speed transmission. It was not apparent at the test drive, but it really shines on the road, especially on the freeway in tight situations: caught between two semis, hit the turbo, boom, they are way behind you.... Again, it depends on your individual tastes and needs, but, hey, they are both great trucks, and you can't really go wrong!

No kidding, I see a lot of older 150s on the road, and they look to be about the same size as my "mid-sized" Ranger!
