17, 250 miles.....change out your transmission, transfer case, front & diff fluids with something other than Motorcraft. I can't guarantee it'll solve your issue, but it solved mine. I replaced them all at 20k and hindsight being 20/20 I should have changed them all out the day the day I bought it.

I only take the truck to the dealer where I purchased it. Wouldn't they only put Motorcraft products in even if I requested a different brand? How likely is it they stock a different brand?

I wouldn’t worry about it

Tell them you want to buy your own fluids, take it with you to your appointment, and have them change them. My dealership was ok with it.

What issues that you had were resolved by changing all the fluids to non Motorcraft?

Hard shifting from Park to Drive & Reverse on cold days, almost constant gear hunting/hesitations when pulling away at green lights. Pretty much all the same issues everyone's had with 5G transmissions. Plus, at 20k, both diffs and transfer case fluids looked like grey milk, there was so much metal dust in them. The magnets on the drainplugs couldn't collect any more. Since the change at 20k I've done them twice more and the fluids have maintained their color with no metal in them.
I've always had a disdain for factory fluids, and this just made it worse lol.

When I had mine flushed, they used BG oil. Seems to be working just fine. I also added a bottle of Lubeguard Platinum.

UPDATE: Had truck in yesterday for "the works" oil change and state inspection. While there they checked transmission fluid level and fluid sample. Level was good and fluid looked fine (no metal chips or anything). No codes showing up for past 60 days. Of course they said they couldn't replicate the problem and said I could bring the truck in and leave it over night so they could try it in the morning (as that's when I have the issue, first start on a Winter day after it's been warmed up for about 4 or 5 minutes). They did ask me if it did this when on an incline.... I said yes, slight incline facing uphill.... hmmm, makes me wonder why they asked that. Are they thinking my tires are slipping?? Anyway, I told them I can't run back to leave the truck over night right now since i live 40 minutes away.... unless the problem becomes chronic. So the plan is to take it back when it has 20,000 miles (I'm at 17,380 right now) and change the transmission fluid and differential fluid. They did say they stock another brand other than Motorcraft.

Apparently, they think the trans fluid level is the problem even though you said they told you it was at correct level.

Since they asked about your parking area, I wonder if they added any ATF. Hope your issue gets resolved to your satisfaction, Val.

Likely Phillips, or Valvoline or one of the other ULV's out there.

At least I would hope so. Hopefully they don't have some old school old fart in there that is going to throw some 'Multi Use' or other type of 'thicker' fluid in it because 'ULV is damn near water!!!'
