Hello everyone, new here and new to the Ford Ranger Family.
I just recently purchased a 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak PX3 and was disappointed to find that it does not come with Blind Spot Detection in my side mirrors, nor auto folding mirrors. I mean, it comes with auto roller shutter, factory fitted light bar and heated seats, but somehow they didn't feel auto folding mirrors were required....go figure! ?

Anyway, speaking with the Ford dealership where I purchased the car, they tell me I can get a module fitted to fix the auto folding mirrors, but the BLIS is not supported in that model, apparently 2022 onwards.

I have come across some eBay stores that seem to sell these mirrors for 2021 models, but I cannot find any information about retro fitting them to my model car. Apparently, my car needs to support radar sensors in the rear bumper (which I'm assuming are not installed). But my question is...

Does anyone know if this can be done? Preferably, I want the standard factory mirrors and not different looking ones if possible.
Has anyone retro fitted BLIS mirrors and the entire module to an older Ranger? I'm interested to know if I need to let this go or not?

Cheers

This ties into your question for the mirror anyways.
FYI - The factory mirrors are not (Auto-Fold), the Trims that have it have a button that you press to (electrically) fold the mirrors / press again they unfold.
There is however an aftermarket module (i think) available that Auto-Folds with ignition cycle.

So I believe it is POSSIBLE to add full function BLIS, but it may be expensive and some added wiring as it is unknown if you have some of the wiring already included in the harness.
Both rear taillamps will need replaced with the LED assemblies that have the SOD's installed, these are the BLIS modules, this will require the wire harnesses to adapt, then the wiring from the modules forward to the mirrors.
Then its just the matter of programming the related modules to show BLIS is installed.
IPC-BCM-TRM=SCCM-and the newly installed SODL & SODR

I don't think anyone has done this upgrade (yet), so on paper and the wiring diagrams it appears possible, but it's a trial & error and expensive.
Another main factor is - I think the ROW rangers have different Tail-Lamp assemblies than the US version, so might do some research if the 2022 light assemblies have the BLIS modules and will they mount up to the 2021.

Thanks @airline tech for the follow up.
I have been told it's around $150+ to have the foldable mirrors module installed, so I'm going ahead with this, as I always forgot to unfold my mirrors until I'm already driving along. Not a big deal, but big enough for me to have the module installed.

The BLIS mirror functionality sounds somewhat promising. My mate is pretty switched on with wiring cars up, so if this is possible, he might like this as a side project. I guess I just need to know if the tail lights are backwards compatible and then I can look at sourcing parts.

Just for reference - all the Module (Aftermarket) does is provide a way to (Auto) Fold / Unfold the POWERED mirrors - vs physically pressing the button.
I mis-wrote earlier - as the tap point for control is the door lock / unlock circuit to provide the input for movement.

So, for just - Auto Fold feature - you will need (Power Folding) mirror assemblies and a switch (factory) with associated wiring - then if you want it to be full (Auto) movement then the module is needed.

Other features that tie into the (side) mirrors that vary on the US-Version Rangers
Heated, Turn Indicators (Mirrors), Puddle Lamps and then the BLIS Indicators

This is just (1) thread for reference to adding - Folding Mirrors - just use the search to find others

Just wanted to ensure you understand that more than a simple module is going to be required if you only have (Manual - Folding) installed

My mirrors semi-auto fold mainly because I've done it so many times I don't even think about it. Its like automatic. Before turning off the engine I fold the mirrors. With the key on I press the mirror button again. Remove key and exit. When you start the engine the mirrors open automatically.

Good point - as the Run/Start relay has to be closed for them to power, so at start up and the relay closes - it picks up the (switch position) of the switch (Resume/Unfold)
Not saving any time (but a noted) option for operation.

@Ripley The after market module for auto-folding and other functions is from
Trac Electronics
Tracelectronics.com.au

And they are in your neighborhood... Adelaide, South Australia

I have it in my 2019 Lariat... press the lock button on the door as you get out or on key fob and the mirrors fold in and all the windows close.

@PltFX4 thanks so much for the link. Did you install this yourself or get it installed? Happy to install myself if it's not too much "hacking". Do I have to splice into wires, etc?

Yes, it is a self install... as least here in Minnesota. If I was in Adelaide, I might let Trec do it if the price is right. It's a little putsy but not hard and the directions are quite good.

The thing I'm not understanding is that the link below is selling a genuine 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak PX3 side mirror that supports auto fold, heating and BLIS. Yet I'm being told by Ford that BLIS side mirrors are only supported on the 2022+ Next Gen Rangers.

Ford Ranger PX Series 3 Wildtrak Right Door Mirror 2018 2019 2020 2021 2022

From my Ford Dealership:
"No PX3 ranger has blind spot monitoring.
The next gen Ranger are the first ones to have it unfortunately as it uses radar on the side of the vehicle for them to work"

Something doesn't add up....

I think the key word here is "supports".

The mirror supports those functions "IF" your truck also supports those functions. Does not mean it will add them if your truck does not already have them. Also it doesn't specifically say it's from a 2021 ranger, at least not that I could see. Just that it will fit a 2018 thru 2022 PX3 ranger.
