Retired, work is a four letter word.
The more of these threads I see the more likely I am to dump this thing right before my ESP runs out. Damn it, I love this truck, but…
Ditto, my esp runs out in mid 2027, and that is when my new Scout Traveler will be rolling off the line.

Just had new transmission installed. I have no ESP.
Truck never tows, mostly DD highways, limited trail use. Bone stock.
- First noticed issues at 65000. Hard shifts between 1st & 3rd. Slipping in 2nd.
- Took to dealership... no faults found. Told to warm up truck
- Issues still present after warming truck, so back to dealership for fluid change.
- One week later wrench icon displayed, power train failure.
- Took back to dealership, informed transmission needs replacing, quote 8500-9000
- Contacted Ford customer care, they worked with dealership.
- Total cost to diagnose & replace transmission 11,858.41
- Ford covered 4980.53
Same thing happened to me at 95000 luckily my warranty covered everything. My dealer identified it right away and it took about 2 weeks.

Glad it happened so well for you. Could you tell me your dealers name as I might contact them and bring truck there for a good outcome

Appreciate all the details. I have car shield now just to protect against this on my 2019 lariat, 2wd. Two questions; anyone have car shield and how did it go? AND, why did ford pay anything towards his trans since he did not have an ext warranty?
I don't have car shield - isn't that the one that IceT promotes in his gangsta style elocution ? However after seeing Danica Patrick pitching Endurance X warranty - I'm tempted to see if I can trade-in my Ford ESP for Endurance coverage in the hope that Danica will handle any claims I make.

I would also take Danica any day but I did go with the Ice T commercial pitch. FYI, I have asked my local ford dealer and another which warranty they like and both said MPP (or something) and Endurance. Car Shield seems to negotiate and asks lots of questions and wants proof of things vs accepting the dealers word.

It was my local ford dealer here in Cincinnati. Me and my fathers company have 4 trucks with them and never had any issues. https://www.kingsfordinc.com
If I have issues with any local ford dealers, I will drive Dallas to Cinnci for this repair vs paying a few thousand locally.

The 5gs have been out long enough for all the common issues to come to light... Besides the pre 22.5 transmissions now being a somewhat obvious imminent failure point... Theres no reason to assume these trucks won't be 200k+ mile rigs as long as they get maintained and don't get trashed to death.
was there a new transmission starting in 22.5? If reading you right the 2023 model should be good to go? No common issues beyond 22.5? if true I’ll just find a 23 Scab and trade my 2019. Thanks for the info.

Not a new transmission just an update to the CDF drum to keep it from moving.

My 2021 Lariat slips in 2nd and slams into 3rd, but only when cold. After 5 minutes, it's fine. I suspect it will get worse over time. Once it warms up I'll check for codes. With my dealer, no codes, no service. I have a 100K ESP so I'm ready for it when it happens.

TSB 24-2101 doesn’t require codes to be present to proceed. Find another dealer
