Where’s your dog?

Picked out a golden retriever pup yesterday. I'm as excited as a kid at christmas. I haven't had a dog since my divorce in 2015. I'm an empty nester now and still working from home 4 days a week so the perfect time to get a buddy.

We were sitting here in our recliners watching football when Maeven comes in her dog door after goofing around outside for a while. Apparently the recent rain enticed her to revisit a mud hole she started a couple months ago.
Here she is just about to get an untimely bath in the basement sink. Little snot!

Jack came home today. He got sick on the 1.5 hour drive home. A little worse for wear but that's ok. Taking a well earned nap now.

He's sleeping on the cement floor? I remember our previous dog got carsick driving through the mountains of West Virginia. He eventually got used to it and was fine on the way home.

Yep. He has 2 beds to sleep in and likes the concrete floor. When friends bring their dogs they almost always prefer the concrete over the beds. They must like the coolness the concrete gives off.

I could dig it if it was mid summer. But dogs do what dogs do. As long as they are happy, right?

Had his first vet check. He is a big boy at 14 pounds at 8 weeks. We got about 12 inches of snow on Monday. He loves to be out in it. I stomped down the snow to make an area for him to maneuver around. He runs and dives head first into the snow drifts. He's something else.

It was our little girl's first snow as well. At first she was like, WTF? She started just going where I shoveled a path for her. Then before you know she's going all crazy in it. It's wasn't easy for her at first, she's only 11lbs, trying to get around in 8" of snow.

We did a mutt walk on the trails yesterday. Gee whiz it was tough to get them all in one photo! 6 dogs there.

Kids came down from college to meet Jack for the first time. We met at my sisters since they wouldn't be able to make it to my place due to the snow. It turned into a photo op session and they took some pretty neat photos. Always amazed at how good of photos phones can take.

When it came time to leave he wasn't having it.
