I’m going to be brief and say that I appreciate a couple of things. It was slightly larger and the tech was a nice change from my XLT with 302A (I had all the tech on my 2020). That said, one thing was a hard no and that was the suspension. It beat the crap out of me. I do have the FX2 package on my 2020 and therefore FX suspension but man the new Ranger was just too much. I have just shy of 25k miles on my 2020 and I’ll have it for quite a while more I imagine. Already had the required transmission and drive shaft bearing work so I should be good for a while lol.

I wish I ever got loaners. Local dealer is scummy. $80 a day for a loaner.

Interesting, I actually prefer the suspension in my ‘24 Lariat FX4 over the ‘21 Lariat FX4. I suppose the ‘24 could be called “firm” but it has the advantage that it doesn’t rock side to side going over bumps and dips the way my ‘21 did. That personally bothered me more than the firmness.

That’s just the price they charge for folks who wheel their lifted trucks and come in with a bunch of mangled suspension and front drive-line parts. Same goes for guys like @Doc who come in with a slammed Ranger and they’re worried he’s gonna be Hoonin’ around in it. ?

@Tracy Bowman walks in with her shiny, brand new looking Butterscotch and they’re like, “Hello Miss Tracy, we have your Ranger loaner ready for you - I hope you don’t mind Magnetic Grey, they don’t make Sabre Orange anymore, our apologies. Can I get you a Sweet Tea while we wait for the lot attendant to finish vacuuming it for you?”

I can't even get my local dealer to return my call for some warranty work. I didn't buy my Ranger there, but I'm going to buy another truck in the next 50 days and guess where I won't bother shopping?

I wouldn’t fault the suspension until I knew what the tire pressures were.

Fortunately my dealer always gives me a free loaner on any service. They don't advertise it but if you ask they do it. They strive for excellent service and have been chosen Car Dealer of the year for the last 4 years by the people of our city.

I think because I have the ford extended warranty for 7 years, 100k and no deductible (purchased from flow ford), that makes a difference once they are able to evaluate it and make sure it’s gonna be there overnight. At least that’s my guess. Either way I’m entitled to something with the extended warranty.

The loaner was RWD and not an FX. I can deal with no rocking side to side (roll) but jarring bumps reminded me of an old ride of mine, a 2015 VW GLI. It’s suspension was quite stiff since it was sporty.

Facts. In my younger days I couldn’t get out of a ticket to save my life. Now if I was a pretty woman, I would’ve gotten a warning. I knew someone that fell into that category and would make sure they had an extra button undone on their blouse and take southern accent and I swear she would get off and I’m almost positive that the officer would give her a 20 for the inconvenience. Lol

I was hopeful for the 2024 Ranger with the 2.7 v6 option, but the local dealer service manager took the wind out of my sails. He said they have had one in already for new cam phasers with less than 5k miles on it. They look awesome to me, but haven't driven one.

Tire pressures were correct. I verified that as I’ve made that mistake on my truck if I’ve upped my pressure slightly when towing. This was next level. It felt planted and well behaved. I wanted a bit less blam to the bumps. I wasn’t expecting the 1970s Cadillac “hey I’m driving a sofa” experience - just a bit less bumpy and well behaved.

Now the V6 I think would be nice (non Raptor) and I’m sure the FX suspension would be an improvement from what I drove, but I’m very much aware of my payload numbers since I’m towing and I think the 2.7 eats into that a bit. That’s why I got the RWD XLT as my payload capacity is 1674lbs. Not too shabby for a Ranger. Not sure what the 2.7 would be.
