I am glad FordPass will remain free. Besides the remote vehicle features, I like having all my vehicles with a page for themselves and space to document VIN, license plate numbers and other details like current mileage... oil life... in one place I can reference. ( I always buy ford )

If feels like those points Ford gives is a marketing move, it’s new enough, I haven’t used them yet. My FordPass says I have like ~54,000. It would be nice if the dealer search function added a “Dealer Accepts Rewards Points” filter.

Last point, my FordPass application running on iOS is buggy in the form of freezing screens. I like the app enough to use it. I received an extra $1,000 off my wife’s 2018 Fusion just for using the FordPass... very cool.

Can the FordPass app be used for an older model Ford (e.g. my 2015 Ford Fusion)?

At the top you should see "Add Vehicle" then just add all you're other vehicle info there. When I bought my Ranger it still have all my 2013 F 150 info on there.

This is good to hear if Ford would have charge for Fordpass I would have dropped it like I let Siriusxm go. For as much as I us it it just doesn't make since to pay for it.

how do i remove this from my life?
Find the modem, and start unplugging stuff until your truck falls off the grid (using the app for reference).

I would love to try this out but being in Europe seems to make it a dead issue for me. I think the difference between US and EU cell signals/satellites make it impossible to connect. I have tried from the app and the truck with no success.

No offense to anyone who dislikes Big Brother...my family is this way, just not me. So my brother is 7 years younger than me, and he still shreds his mail...I just shake my head and ask, since when have you seen anyone going through your trash? Is the CIA after you or a PI? They have better means these days...it was a BIG day when he used his debit card to pay for gas...his girl calls him her "Analog Man"
NO-Tech is the best Tech...
I like it but if I had to pay a monthly premium for it I'd delete it in a heart beat...

It's a low volume communication. Probably the cost to Ford is near zero in return for giving att the monopoly for wifi.
Ok I know you answered this but just to clear it up. I was setting up my phone with the truck with the salesman and was told to start my free trial (this was on Friday). Then he tells me "Oh yeah Ford pass will be free indefinitely". So that means that ATT will provide the service for free and that's independent from the subscription for WiFi hotspot? Is that correct? I won't need data through my truck because I have my phone and no apps on the truck anyway. But it would be super kick ass if I have remote start for the life of the truck! :like::beer:

That's exactly what I was going to say when I was reading through this thread, but you beat me to it! This is the key point. A little more than a decade ago I worked on products that communicated telemetry data through the cellular network, and even back then we could get pretty good bulk deals from carriers like AT&T for applications that used very small amounts of data.

It was fairly cheap back then and is probably close to zero now for such a large client as Ford, especially since Ford has been smart about separating out the higher bandwidth wireless services, like the in-vehicle hot spot, and charging for that. It's win-win for both Ford and AT&T.

Hopefully the other manufacturers will follow. Our son bought a Chevy Volt earlier this year and GM still charges quite a bit for even the basic On-Star service.

The last thing I'd add is that the dealer told us that Fordpass basic service was free indefinitely back in early August when we took delivery, but I could never verify that on the website. Looks like they finally made it official.

Yes, AFAIK. The hot-spot is a much higher bandwidth service, so it's likely they will keep charging for that. The basic status telemetry is very low bandwidth and a client the size of Ford can negotiate rates that are so low they can throw it in for free for good will or, really, more as a standard feature.

And, yeah, in most cases it will render the keyfob-based remote start redundant. I still find it useful, though, since we spend a lot of time in areas outside of cell coverage.

Sweet! I'm excited because I don't have remote start on my fob so this is a huge bonus for me since I'll mainly use it in the mornings when leaving for work.

At the top you should see "Add Vehicle" then just add all you're other vehicle info there. When I bought my Ranger it still have all my 2013 F 150 info on there.
Thank you. I now have the Fordpass app on my phone for my 2015 Fusion and it looks like it will be very handy. I find the maintenance schedule you can pull up to be particularly helpful.

Hello can anyone help me with my ford pass , when I get on the app it says activation pending , just start your vehicle and accept the activation confirmation on the vehicle touchscreen to unlock all of its FordPass features , but nothing comes up on my screen in the truck so I can’t activate it , thanks
