My aging Garmin dashcam / GPS finally bit it, I miss some features

Those are some nifty features that you're looking for. I have a Nextbase 622 and I like it, but no elevation display. It has GPS and can do that "what3words" location service, but again, no display of it.

It can be set to show your speed if you don't want to see the cam's view (also shows a little insert of the rear cam).

Let us know what you find as I like some of the things you're looking for. =)

PS - I don't know much about what3words, but it does seem pretty cool.

Yeah, I don't need it, but I really enjoy watching the elevation changes. I wish there was an option for this and speed zone in my Ranger's set up, but the options are very limited.

I'm with you on that. My Garmin Tread Overland is kind enough for speed zones in most places and I have Trip A & B with Speed and Elevation displayed. Certainly cool to watch as you travel.

My wife's 2021 Edge has the speed zone feature. And she doesn't need to plug in her phone for nav.

This one acts like it wants to initialize when I plug it in to the 12V outlet, then it says low battery, then it shuts down. If I do nothing, it will repeat this cycle. If I unplug it, turn it on, it will say low battery, then I will plug it in but doesn't help.
I an also having issues when it is connected to data. It won't even recognize the data card anymore. Cannot load, update maps. I am pretty certain the battery is so toast it can't do anything.
Also, I tried powering it in the Ranger with a USB cable. No joy.

That does sound like the battery. Crack it open and get the battery codes. I'm pretty sure you can find replacements. I ti probably soldered in too. But that is a 5 minute issue.... easy to replace once you get it open.

I like my Garmins... both show elevation and speed, delays, etc.

My Garmin GPS with built-in dashcam finally bit the dust. I think the internal battery is dead and I am going to try to see if I can replace it. But assuming I can't, I am looking at options. Sure I can get a newer, better dashcam, but there are a couple of features the the Garmin had that I really got used to. It always displayed the speed limit zone I was in, and I could have it display elevation. I am using AAWireless, and while it has been working great, it does not show the speed zone or elevation, and I have no idea if there is a way to turn these on.
I don't need a separate GPS anymore, but if I can get one that has a dashcam, and can display elevation and speed zone, I might go that route vs. dedicated dashcam.
Thoughts?

This morning I thought I would try it again in the Ranger. I plugged it in and it did nothing. (usually self initializes) I hit the power button and it initialized like normal and worked for the rest of my commute, about 35 minutes.
Figures, after I just ordered a replacement on Ebay. I seriously doubt it will last but we'll see.

Unless you're living off grid, no phone or internet you're being tracked. Heck, just driving (stop light cameras) or walking into a store (store cameras) you're being tracked every moment of your daily life. I have many other things in my life that are more concerning than worrying about the government tracking what I do!

Now I'm off to put on my tin foil hat for the election tomorrow!

Yes! There's a setting on the app that shows posted speed limit and your current speed...I set mine to warn at 10 over and my speed would flash red when I've become an outlaw...
