My trans for a while would has had some slightly notchy shifts between I believe 3 and 4 maybe some more gears and now it seems it’s getting worse. I’m still covered under warranty for my trans. Would it be worth taking it to ford or would they charge me a bunch for diagnostic etc?

Notchy? Well that's my transmissions new nickname sir !!! "DamnIt" was getting me in trouble in traffic because people thought I was yelling at them ...
Should be no charge and they have service bulletins on it ...

Do you have a tune on your Ranger? Mine was a bit herky jerky after I installed a tune until the CPU "learned" how I drive.

Changing the transmission fluid and adding LubeGard Platinum cured my severe transmission issues. Mine started acting up at 5K miles, but got much worse at 12K. By 18K I was thinking it was time to unload it.

With advice from another forum member which took me the better part of a year to finally try (I don't like using additives) I knew it was unload the truck or try it.

I tried it. My issues disappeared almost immediately. I changed the fluid a 2nd time 1500 mile later and added another 8oz. to cure the last issue I had, a rough shift from 3rd to 4th.

My truck's transmission shifts silky smooth now - going on 2500 miles.

Taking it on a 1500 mike trip very soon. I would not have considered it a year ago.

It’s a new truck that’s is mostly factory regardless It shouldn’t be having trans issues at 25k if I’m following the ford recommended maintenance. dealership follow fords recommendations.

And on top of that it’s not babied, it’s gets off-roaded on fairly difficult trails frequently, it has towed a handful of times. Your points don’t make much sense.

Sounds like a good one to buy when you get rid of it.

Sell? Some times they can make it to the scrap yard under their own power, I squeeze every last drop of blood out first, the last three had to be towed LOL but I got over a 1/4 million miles out of them, my jeep Grand had 385k on it, its easier to buy a new truck every few years then spend my life worrying about changing the oil every 2k
I run the best gas I can find, I use AMSoil and I do change the filter every 15k-ish
I am switching back to Mobile One, thats done me good my whole life ....
