I’m torn on a warranty extension
I have a year to pay this ranger off, maybe less. Current extended warranty is a 60 k, I have 57k.

I’ve done a lot of thinking and looking, I plan to get rid of this ranger soon as it paid off and I have title in hand. Move on to something different.

I need to sit down and give the plans a look. I want a 20 k if possible. I don’t think I’ll drive more than that in the next year.
Truck is so damn uncomfortable, GF and I usually take her jeep on long trips.
With only a year to pay off, then sell the Ranger, I would roll the dice and take my chances that nothing happens, especially if you are not having any symptoms. Check with Grainger and get a quote. If you are worried about the transmission, you could get an ESP for the powertrain only.

PS. You are one of the few that say the Ranger is uncomfortable.

Flood ford - Am I missing something? I put in my vehicle and it tells me I'm not eligible for a warranty
I go to granger and it walks me through everything with prices.
I think you're missing something.......It's one of the easiest transactions I've ever done online.

Both of my Rangers were under the 3/36K when I ordered them. Try calling them and see if there's anything they can do or else just go with Granger if it's working on their site for you.

I needed a new HVAC box due to the blend door issue. My extended warranty covered that without hesitation. That single repair more than paid for my warranty cost.

My truck is similarly modified as OP. I just did my transmission with no issues.

Glad to hear you had success with your warranty repair. For me the chance to not be covered was something I did not want to risk. The time to purchase now is also too late the price increased by around $200 for the plan I was looking at. I rolled the dice and will take my chances and live with the results.

After thought, maybe if I would have gotten the warranty when brand new and cheaper then it would be ok. I have only bought new cars and never gotten an extended warranty. Only bought one afterwards for a Chevy Astro, but I had issues with that from day one. Also had a 1986 Hyundai when they first came to US that was a POS, that is the only new vehicle I got rid of after 36 month warranty was over.
I have always felt if there is going to be issues they will happen early during factory warranty period. I like to keep my vehicles as long as possible. In the long run without additional warranties I have come out on top. If I had purchased warranty on all my purchases I would be way behind by now. So even if I have issues with the Ranger I will still have won overall I feel.

Your truck is over the 3yr/36K bumper to bumper and too close to the 60K drivetrain warranty, so it's not eligible for a new car warranty. You will have to get a used car warranty, but Flood doesn't sell those. Grainger does, ask them about it.

I bought the extended warranty on my 2023 before the 36/36,000 was up at my age and health if something goes wrong let Ford worry about not me.

Just like house insurance been in this house over 40 years and have not had a claim and the cost was a lot more the the extended warranty.

Just my .02

I don’t think it s fair to compare to homeowners or even health insurance. Both of which I also have been paying for over 40 years, and no claims. Those 2 are needed, because you could be talking about some serious money in a worst case situation. On the Ranger you will not have such a big loss as a house or illness. Worst case if the engine or transmission blows up I am out $5 to $10k I can live with that.
I hate paying for the homeowners and health insurance, but there is no choice on those 2. For the extended warranty I feel it is a gamble I can afford to take and maybe save $2000 or more. My luck is I would have the plan truck would fail and they would deny coverage. Or the warranty would have just expired.
From most of the issues reported on the forum it seems like the problems started early. That is why I waited until the 36/36000 warranty was over before thinking about the ESP. In all my vehicles they have either been trouble free or a problem from the beginning. Like I have heard before you do not want a car built on a Fri or Mon. From the info on my window sticker mine was built on a Tue.

Thanks Jason,
I got looking more at flood and will go with Granger.
Think I'm going to do at least a year, maybe two. I'm starting to notice and "feel" things in the transmission.

I understand about the comparing of health and home insurance.

My point was you buy all just in case there is a problem .

Like health I had major surgery Dec. 22 bill was over $90,000 and I paid $400, then again in Nov.23 over $30,000 I paid $100 and thankful never a problem on my home.

If problem comes up on my Ranger I pay $100 .

The $5-10,000 on trans or engine I can not live with at my age on a fixed income.

Again just my .02

If Granger didn't have the zero interest payment plan, I would not have bought it. I'm also on a fixed income, so shelling out $1500+ for something that I may never get the ROI on was tough. However, a few hundred bucks up front, and $67/month for 18 months gets me to the end of the decade and 100K, and I don't pay a penny extra for it. I also checked Flood, and they were at least 50% higher than Granger.
