From the get go, my major complaint has been that the Ranger was just gosh darn too big. That and the fact that it was a 10 year-old Australian gussied up as a new American. Traded it for a Maverick. Virtually all the same tech with a couple of extras in a smaller package. Still Hot Pepper Red and now the Lone Maverick. We'll see how it holds up.

Last July I traded my Maverick Lariat for a 2022 Ranger Lariat Tremor. I was, and still am, very happy with the trade. The Ranger gets marginally worse gas mileage and it is not as straightforward to haul plywood, but I think everything else about the Ranger is better. I especially hated the plastics in the interior of the Maverick. Other than the interior, I felt it was a great vehicle and honestly it probably meets the cargo hauling needs for the vast majority of Americans.

I was going to buy a Maverick in 2022 but got to the dealer on the same day that the 4K tow package was no longer available. I then got the Ranger and love it!

But ... the Maverick would have been nice. Easier to get in and out of, able to reach into the bed, nice infotainment screen, great gas mileage. And it would have been big enough for our kayaking.

And, while the bed is much smaller than my scab, that would have only meant more dump trips! And there's nothing wrong with more dump runs! =p

Good luck @Lone and keep us informed on how you like it! =)

Hopefully the Maverick suites your needs better. Everyone should be comfortable in what they're driving and I just hope the Ranger doesn't get any bigger over the years. I think the Maverick is the perfect truck for those who need to haul stuff on occasion but don't want that huge "truck feel". I've said it many times before these would be great for the weekend warrior doing home improvement projects or a semi retired handyman, maintenance guy, small parts delivery or for pool service. Every truck has its niche and these have theirs.

I just saw this one a few days ago. They're nice but man they're so small compared to our Rangers never mins a full size truck.

I agree that to each his own. What ever floats your boat. Personally the Maverick is a great little truck but I don't need the 4 doors or small bed. I still have my 1999 TACO which is actually lower than the Maverick and with a 6' bed WIN WIN for me. I drive my Ranger 90% of the time. Also the affordable Maverick is not so affordable now. To get the Lariat Maverick 4WD would be almost as much as I paid for my 2020 Ranger now. I'll take my Ranger all day any day!

David, I think you should go ahead and get a Red Maverick....a "Soupie Jr."
That way you could use Soupie Jr for smaller dump runs, and Soupie for the big ones, like after you get a load of cardboard from all your "What Came In The Mail" stuff !!!

I'm working on it as we speak! =)

Your @Grumpaw-branded Maverick will make it three! =p

Here's the one planned for Cheech to do his own dump runs! =D

Your SCab is cool. I love my SCab's aesthetics and full size bed but since my wife became a Chick in a Chair the back half of the cab is now too small unless I put the chair in wheels off and upside down. The bed is also too high to lift the chair (or anything else) into. Her Chevy Equinox is great to just toss the chair into and it has power everything but it has child-length seat bottoms designed to slowly and painfully wreck your legs if you are more than 5 feet tall. I can't for the life of me imagine what they were thinking with this setup. My KIA Soul is perfect for chair transport but it's not 4WD. We've been using it a lot while I figure out what to do next. Explorer maybe?

They do seem a bit smaller, but one parked next to me on the street and I was surprised that it must be no more than 12" shorter? When I am behind one at a light they look a lot shorter than that.

Since the Mav came out first, I can't help but see the new gen Rangers as big Mavs rather than small F150 with the styling, which I do not like. On the Mav it looks nice but I prefer the 5G exterior so much more.

I am in the dilemma that I do not want to go full size but my wife complains how small the Ranger interior is, so I was wishing the 6G did something about that. Always compares to our Pilot ugg. I think half the problem is on road trips when towing she likes having all these things with her so we do not need to pull over or what not, but man the F150 is SO MUCH larger, I would not want to live with it daily.

Thankfully my Ranger isn't going anywhere with new truck prices lol and I would feel weird spending $50k on a used gen 2 Raptor. I can't help but feel weird about spending that much on a used vehicle.
