I can no longer use my FORDPASS as I have infrequently done in the past without allowing them access and permission to share with others my driving habits. I am a conservative driver, although I like to get on it once in a blue moon, getting on highway type. All under the guise of enhancing my driving experience. Has anyone figured out how to use FORDPASS without allowing what I consider invasive monitoring and sharing?

No, when they required the permissions, I deleted the app and turned off all the auto updates and vehicle sharing. Ford wants too much freedom of info for me.

Actually, it is not the first. The new requirements are different from when I signed on in 2019
They have always sold your driving data to insurance companies.

what has changed in this new requirements?

and you know this how? the wording in app now specifies what they will share if you accept. if they always shared, why now the permission request?

While I don't remember the exact wording of my initial sign on agreement, I can't imagine Ford not having that same language back in 2020 when I bought the truck.
I'm not sure how we would be able to prove language from back then unless somehow someone here is still on the old app and can screenshot the language used then?

Are you in the US? I can't find anything regarding Ford accessing my driving habits. I didn't take the hour to read every section but picked the ones likely to contain anything. I'll look again if you provide a sub heading of some sort. Maybe Canadian rules differ?

To answer your question, it's down in section 2.
I'm just asking if there is a way around sharing, and still using app. Seems like NO, but I know there are a few technology advanced people on here...

FYI, your truck collects data and sends it to Ford, whether or not you use the app. The only way I know of to prevent this is physically removing the telemetry modem.
And BTW, your phone probably does it also, especially if you use any Google services like Google Maps, Waze, or Android Auto.

Our privacy legislation just might be a bit tighter up here.

But even if we can/could opt out of data sharing on one app, that same data could easily be picked up and shared by another app, which can even make inferences about driving habits. The tech that rotates our phone screen wasn’t designed to help the user - that’s simply a side effect.

For real, Duke.
Maybe a class-action lawsuit is needed to straighten this out?
