yeah, hydrogen definitely doesn't last as long near a combustion engine.

Real men know to add half a cup of gasoline to each tire, and the tire warms up it turns to a lighter than air gas. When the vehicle parks they cool down and return to liquid. It provides the added benefit of helping to correct unbalanced tires....

The bigger the tire, the heavier it will be. Also keep in mind that some tires are heavier than others in the same size simply by changing brands.

My preferred All Terrain is the Firestone Destination XT. Mostly available in a LT Load E(and sometimes a Load C) you will find it to be lighter than any other All Terrain in the same Size and Load Range.

And that weight makes a big difference in a lot of weighs (see what I did there lol).

When I went up 1 inch and ~12 lbs per tire I lost many mpg's....

But the side walls were more durable and the tread was much more aggressive. Worth every mpg I lost. ?

I always ruled out LT tires on weight alone. There's several load ratings on many tires I always checked the lightest one. If you hit any trails with jagged rocks you might want the beefier ones.
Honestly a good A/T tire even in passenger rating is good on trails rated 5/10. My previous "off-roader" was a Subaru Outback with Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail passenger rated tires and I dragged the side walls over rocks for years without a puncture. LT is great for towing and abuse but a good A/T will be fine for most weekend excursions on forest roads.

I'm not going to tire bash any brand since everyone has their own opinion and
tire use to consider.

I've had many different tires on my 4x4s over the years and certainly tires are getting better.
Now we have access to so much information regarding tires and customer experience.

I know I like to reasearch stuff before I buy as part of the fun but when it comes down to it - you usually stick to something you know. When we replaced our tires on the Bronco Sport we needed a tire for year round exploration in the mountains on and off trails.

I ended up getting the Wildpeaks due to the excellent reviews including winter use. We have been caught in ice storms on the interstate highways, snow covered dirt trails at the cabins, and heavy rain storms and have had exceptional performance with the Wildpeaks. Even as a hot dry summer tire I feel they have excellent traction on the road.

I used the Cooper ST Maxx on my 2022 Ranger and they were fantastic but not as well diverse in all situations. The Wildpeaks show incredible performance in all situations we've encountered.

So that's why I decided to go with the Wildpeak A/T3W on my Lariat. I could have given the AT4W a try but we know the A/T3Ws work very well for us.


This was interesting Wildpeak A/T3W vs BF Goodrich KO2s

What would be interesting is a comparison to the KO3 and/or a
A/T4W vs. KO3

Lots of great tread out their - hope everyone has great luck with their next tire purchase.

He has 2 videos with nearly identical thumbnails, the other one doesn't have the same tires.

He can be long winded but has good information.

So I'm trying to get a set of tires for my 2021 Lartiat - soon - as the Hankook Dynapro AT-Ms are pretty worn at 35K.
So I start comparing specs with the Falken Wildpeaks which we are very happy with on our Bronco Sport.

Hankook Dynapro AT-M
Stock: 265 60 18
35lbs.

Falken Wildpeak A/T3W
Desired size: 265 70 18
56lbs. :oops:
If they're 56 lbs. each they are probably Load Range E (10 ply) which is what you want for an F-250 but not a Ranger. You want either a P-metric or at most a Load Range C.

I will add after taking a look, the Firestone Destination XT is available in the same size and is only 47 lbs vs the 56 lbs.

Falken website the A/T3W 265 70 R18 has
a max load of 2765 lbs. (116T) and is 46.7 lbs.

I am running a 3 inch front lift and some other mods (check showcase if interested) bought 18" on the new truck hated the hankooks. Lousy ride. When I switched to these kmc 20mm offset wheels I put the Falken WildPeak At3s 285/70/17 on it, love them. i like more sidewall protection for my wheels.

Calculated the oem lariat wheel weight vs new ones, plus bigger tire. Don't quote me it's been a while but I think the added weight was between 6-9 lbs Per wheel? Not more. Road force balanced. I still get 19mpg tooling around town, I never got above 22.5mpg hiway before and still in that general area, no road trips in a while. On some road surfaces I can hear a bit of whine but not annoying it's not very often, but I always have music on and have great sound deadening added.

any comments on this tire ? it's XL rated but supposedly weighs in at 41 lbs. COOPERDISCOVERER ROAD + TRAIL AT265 /60 R18 114H XL BSW

I,m towing a 4200 lbs TT , so an XL rated tire might be advantageous, I go off road occasionally , nothing too intense though. I'm also looking at the Falken AT/4 but didn't see the lariat size listed on their website.
