Just FYI - Ford body repair parts not available

Well, 3 weeks without the truck at a body shop. Had a minor collision that bent the right front bumper area and the brackets and plastic pieces behind the valance.

Shop has contacted Ford numerous times and evidently the parts they need are not available from stock. They had to request a "release" from Ford. Not sure what that means but I suspect parts for production line have to be diverted.

The frustrating part (pun intended) is the truck was still driveable and Id rather drive a slightly bent Ranger than a rental Jeep Cherokee that my insurance company is not very cooperative in continuing the coverage.

Just a heads up to manage expectations if anyone finds themselves in the same situation. I don't blame the shop, it is just painful to wait.

I had a similar issue with my then new 2015 50th Anniversary Mustang. The next day after bringing it home I drove it to work. A tire carcass laying in the road hit my front valance because there was no ground clearance on that car. It broke the front facia. The collision shop said there were no facias available. For my case we glued it back together at the time and replaced some popped plastic clips.

In your case it is a good 9 months into production so there should be something....one would think...especially for collision parts.

Not shocking at all considering there are barely any mechanical parts available...

I'm going on 4 months of waiting for a rear axle shaft, and I'm about to go in for a second time to have my rear brakes turned (yes the second time) because they start pulsing crazily about every 8K miles.

I'm expecting no access to rotors when they pull them and tell me they are too far gone to turn again.

I'll enjoy driving that free F150 for a few weeks (everything except the gas bill)

I just dropped mine at the shop for a sandwich collision. Had it two hours, and a lady rear ended me and pushed me into the car in front as well. New front and rear bumpers, hitch, and tailgate at minimum. This is a Ford dealership shop, hoping they have parts at this point in the game shipping out.

Start the clock... my guess is you’ll be driving a rental for quite some time.

Looks like my new Ranger needs to go to a body shop already.

We had crazy strong wind late yesterday and my passenger side front fender took a hit from some flying debris as I was standing in the driveway next to it.

The damage isn’t that bad, but it’s a brand new truck and I’m not ready to see her banged up. I’m thinking I’d prefer to take it to the dealership for repairs since I assume they’ll match the color the best. Sucks...

From the photo, that almost looks like it would buff out with some polishing compound. But maybe it is worse than the photos look.

It’s hard to photograph since it’s so shallow, but there’s a crease there. It’s way easier to see in person for sure. Going to meet the insurance people next week

That’s a bummer. You can get a great fix at any body shop you trust. They will all have access to the same or similar paint chips with multiple variants of your paint code for a perfect match just as good as a dealership can do!

Wow...that really sucks eggs. The fender is mil spec aluminum which is pretty tough...wonder what hit it?

Sorry for your damage...must have been one heck of a storm!

A wooden framed canvas umbrella actually blew off of a balcony about 18’ away and lawn darted into me and the truck. I heard a commotion behind me turned around just in time to see it coming at me. I tried to push it away from the truck, but it tagged the fender. It was freakishly windy last night.

Would you recommend taking it to the dealer for repair? I really want the best paint match possible. Is there anything else I should be thinking about when talking to the insurance people? Don’t think they’ll need to replace any parts, but I’d want original parts if any are needed.
