Haha, that was great. And true.
Yeah, I ran a 2000 Trailhead version for 23 years and 280,000 miles and the original engine and tranny still pulled like new when I sold it.

In that time I got married (and still married, haha) had a son who became a Sargeant in the USMC, changed jobs three times and landed my dream job, lost two brothers to drug overdoses, watched my mom get cancer and BEAT IT, thank God, got to see my dad retire, been through two family dogs, went from comfortably financially to broke to back again, and so much more. Played in endless bands, hauling gear to endless gigs and shows. Still doing that, also thank God. Hauled countless tools and construction supplies, pulled giant rolls of carpet off the delivery truck with it more times than I can remember. Got stuck in a fucking mud field for 3 hours and got out again (that was an adventure), etc. Through it all that truck was a big part of my life and NEVER let me down always getting me and my stuff where I needed to go.

5 speed with 3.slow v6 and 4.10 axle ratio. Just too much stuff wearing out and I absolutely HAD to have a new one, per my wife's blessing, which so far is better in every conceivable way. And wayyyyyy faster. Fun. Not sure about getting 280,000 out of the original power train on the new one though. We shall see. It's a pavement princess and I don't work in construction anymore so it doesn't get abused and dirty like the old one did, inside or out, so maybe there's hope.

Here is "Old Blue" the day I sold her.
She was a good truck ?

Tried the damper, sorta hated it, removed it and tossed it.

It was slow and noisy in the cold and a lot of times I wanted to get in the bed faster not wait on the damn thing.

Was not a fan.
