Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story with Fred and Cheech, @subquark. It's evident how deeply our furry companions touch our lives and leave lasting imprints on our hearts. Cheech's journey to find a loving home after being in multiple places showcases the resilience and love that rescue pets bring into our lives. The image of him at the pound in a Christmas sweater trying to be tough must have been a heartwarming sight. It's so frigging hard - I'd wake up crying a year later after our Australian Shepherd passed. We had Fred for 17 years and he was a rescue. It took us another 10 years before Cheech came into our life. A little guy that had been in 7 places the two years before we got him, including the city pound and two rescue groups.
Here he is at the pound trying to be a tough guy, which isn't easy when you're wearing a Christmas sweater! =D
