I have searched w/the search here on this sight and numerous time spent on the web, but I have not found a source for a driveshaft center bearing, sometimes called a carrier bearing. I realize to eliminate it would be devine, but I need it now, not after Tom or Dorman etc ships it to me.
Ideas beside the dealer please?
BTW, this sight is SO awesome. SO many questions have been discussed and solved etc.
Amazing!!
Thanks, Brian (milehibry)

I never was able to get specs on it. I don't have a 2nd vehicle or else I would have pulled off my driveshaft and tried pulling the bearing assembly off(press fit) to take measurements.

I would do the output shaft bearing also, especially if you pull the whole thing.

I have not seen anyplace that sells just the bearing. If a dealer has to replace one, they replace the whole shaft. It is a major job to pull the center U-joint apart to change it. AND make sure it back in proper phase.

What output shaft bearing are you talking about? The one that is "IN" the transmission?

Thanks for the replies!
You guys are ALWAYS so great!
I am getting a growl sound above 10 MPH. I had my son drive the truck w/me in the back, listening. Sound appears to NOT be coming from either rear wheel.
As I leaned into the truck thru the back window to talk, as he drove, it became loud and "sounded:" like it was coming from the center of the truck.
Thus my thot of the driveshaft bearing...
It is a little sloppy, but not "rattley" or discolored or over heated.
I suspect a local dealer has 1, just hate to spend THAT kind of money.
I did a one piece shaft in an older Ranger years ago and loved it.
Problem is, I'm driving to Salt Lake tomorrow.
So IF I could find a bearing I was going to try it. And do a one piece when I get back in 2 weeks.
Or even have it shipped to SLC IF it is readily available.
Any way, thanks again for the replies.

I just noticed this same growl around 10mph (78k miles). I just jacked it up and let the tires spin (this sets off all kinds of warnings fyi) and yup its coming from that center support bearing.

surprised you got that many miles on one. I had a couple give up in under 30k miles. rumor was spicer / dana had a bad batch of them. The one currently on my truck seems alright.

Mine gave up at 5k. Replaced under warranty obviously. He said it was both the center support and the output bearing at the transmission. Started growling and then went to screeching off and on at random times. (sounded exactly like a slipping belt)

Has anyone bought the center bearing and replaced it yourself? Did it need to be pressed on and off or just remove the nut? Any help is appreciated. Mine started squealing really loud a couple of days ago and I need to replace it because we are moving to Ohio in a few weeks and not sure if I can get an appointment at the dealer in time.
