2019 Lariat. I am at 4 years 6 months of ownership.... but unfortunately 68k miles. Just got the quote from the dealership.... 9k to get it replaced. This will probably be the last Ford I own. I guess I get a Toyota now like everyone else.
At those miles you should at least try to push Ford to cover a portion of it. Some members here have had a bit of luck going that route.

There's some real gold in the discovery documents. I spent an evening reading through them all:

Note: the 212B fluid they talk about is the original fluid spec.

https://www.cohenmilstein.com/sites/default/files/Index of Misc. Exhibits Document - GM Litigation_0.pdf

Some of them are really good reads if you're into corporate 'oh shit' moments.

McVea cited internal GM documents from the defendant’s study of the transmission problem that showed that GM selected an ATF designated as “212B” and a friction material known as “LuK WFP6300.” Other documents showed that GM’s engineers found this combination to be problematic because the 212B fluid was unusually sensitive to moisture, and because the WFP6300 material had poor friction characteristics....... McVea cited GM presentations highlighting the inappropriate combination, noting that the fluid selected originally was intended to be used with a “carbon fiber” friction material, but the fluid was not changed when GM decided, in 2012, to switch to the “paper based” WFP6300 material, ostensibly citing a $2 per unit savings due to a discount from the supplier that had proposed to produce both the clutch material and torque converter assemblies. Ibid. The problematic combination was referred to contemporaneously by GM engineer Randy Melanson as “the worst friction system we got, and it’s only going to get worse with mileage, no matter what we do.”

I love seeing/reading corporate "oh shit" moments that they try so desperately to hide!

Your due for a filter and pan drop and refill @59K .....
For what's it's worth. I recently did a transmission service with a filter changed and used to have the cold hard shifts in D but not any more "yet". This was at 63k. Also, did the diff also.

Here's an update for my situation. Ford would not do anything and said that I was SoL. There was a faint chance that they would be able to help out but first I would have to pay the multiple thousands of dollars to have my transmission pulled, broken open and inspected. They wouldn't even do a formal quote on a rebuild without first pulling it. The SA said it would end up being more money to rebuild than it would be to replace.

I ended up taking it to a local reputable independent. He confirmed a new replacement would be the better option as he also confirmed that rebuilding would take more labor than replacing. He was able to get me a brand new transmission installed for right around $7.5k.

Moral of the story: Never buy the first 2 model years of a car with a complicated unproven transmission. Also, Ford's warranty sucks and dealers are leeches.
Thats terrible, threads like this will steer me away from buying Ford ever again.

educate me on the dealer flush please?
I have never had a dealer flush destroy a transmission however those who have, usually had high mileage (and high wear) and the hardened clutch material was holding the unit together basically.

Do a flush, all the bits and pieces of stuck clutch material/varnish/gunk are gone, and the unit now fails to propel the vehicle forward.

Person blames the shop, shop and customer get into a lose-lose situation.

the problem with our trans is that a flush really screws them up because of all of the electronics, and solenoids. the solenoids do not like to be back flushed, and all of the dirt get stuck in them

So what's the recommendation? Drain with a pump and just refill what you remove? Rather than whatever procedure they're doing to "flush" and and force fluid through the trans?

Yes, just drain and fill. Be that through pumping it out or with a drain plug.

No plug on mine, YET. PPE pan is on the list of upgrades and it's happening soon. That'll give me a drain plug moving forward.

My first few fluid swaps were done with a pipe and a fabricated fitting. Made out of a metal toilet standpipe bent into a J shape.

I don't like the plastic pan, it gives me anxiety so it's on the short list for remove/replace
