I agree the management is to blame for all of this, but I do think it is an effort to focus on higher margin vehicles. I think in many respects Ford is pricing itself out of the game for many people - Henry Ford must be rolling over in his grave....
Given that the market for high dollar trucks is down the crapper and dealers have to give them away might make that change. Seems if they had a bunch of 40K trucks on the lot it would be better than taking a bath on 80K trucks. Who knows.

My opinion is that we have an epidemic of really crappy management in this country, so I doubt things will change - at least not until there is some sort of emergency (looming bankruptcy, etc) and then there will be all sorts of knee jerk reactionary decisions (most of which will be stupid and ridiculous).

Time will tell - In the meantime, I'm happy with my 2019 Ranger and it has not given me any issues - knock on wood.

Holy crap, Ranger sales have fallen off a cliff! -92% seems their math is off too. With those numbers, I can't see Ford making many more, or possibly even dropping the entire Ranger line. There's simply no demand. Curious to know the "drivers" behind these numbers? Competition?

I drive my Ranger more than my SUV now. It's been a complete surprise, both on and offroad so it would be sad to see this line dropped by Ford but the writing is on the wall as they say.
you have to bulid them to sell them.... can seel what is not on the lots and with the model change even worst..

I get the whole idea that MAP was shut down during the strike. So was the Wentzville plant that makes the Colorado. See trucks everyday leaving with new Colorado's. Most dealers around here have Colorado's on the lot, although the ZR2 versions don't hang around long.

but ford cut back production on the ranger to keep up with the bronco production, plus with 2023 being the last of 5g's ..you can see why

Wow, that's pretty wild. My rough calculations, based on 300K/yr, 350 work days, 24 hr/days is around 850 cars/day. That's nuts. That's full round the clock production so not sure they do that, but still.
They can do 3 shifts but as far as I know MAP has never staffed for 3 shifts at least not since the 5G started being built there. At one point they were doing 2 shifts - not sure what they are doing now. Seems like a lot of the "insider" guys have been silenced by Ford Corporate for some reason.

310K/yr is a peak rate figure, like a sprint. 250,000 would be a 3 shift+overtime rate. Model changeovers shorten annual production by a little to a lot, depending on if it is just new paint colors to all new vehicles.

If your manufacturing capacity is limited by what your vendors can supply wouldn't you concentrate your efforts on what maximizes your profits?
To do otherwise would be imprudent.

There is such a thing as "giving customers what they want" instead of "making things that make me the most money". Profits are important but there are certainly other factors that should be considered, IMO.

I feel like Ford is doing things solely based on margin (profit) and in the process, is alienating a large portion of its traditional user base, which is a bad thing for the long term of the company. Customer satisfaction is very difficult to measure accurately, but that doesn't mean it isn't a factor in the long term profitability of the company. I know long term is a dirty word in corporate America these days - all that matters is the next 3 months. That is an incredibly bad way to make decisions, IMO.

Perfectly stated. Sad, but true.

Our limited US production 5G Rangers are going to be cult trucks. We're 'special'!?

Especially the Super Cabs.

I don't know if I'd spring almost $60K for a 6G Ranger Raptor.

Take care of your trucks everyone, we may not have collectors items but we're niche.

This site is invaluable for anyone who gets one used or likes to customize/mod and preserve theirs.

Lightly used 2020 Supercab Ranger, the true unicorn of the American truck market. $100,000, and I'll include the very desirable tonneau cover, free of charge.

You should have put it in the Mecum Auto Auction last week in Kissimmee FL. You might have gotten all that. A lot of insane prices on stuff. Glendale AZ is coming up...
