A lot of you "youngsters" probably weren't around in the "way back when" Mc D's made GOOD fries....yes the one bad thing about Mc D’s fries is you have to eat them Hot & Fresh which results in getting the salt all over the center console as you reach over to the passenger seat to pull them from the bag while driving.
There is no other Fast-Food Fry that even comes close to Micky D’s, especially the crispy ones.
Would be interested in seeing what your final setup looks like in the cabin.![]()
Not technically in the mail, as I made my wife drive across town to pick this up from the store, but I am about to get HAM'd. I am working on a mounting solution, but I am really excited about this. I worked really hard for my license (I am a terrible test taker, and I past on the first try), so I am excited to get a good MT to play with. Plus, I get options for emergency comms when I am on the trails. GMRS, HAM, Garmin InReach.

Here the face is mounted. Right now, it’s using 3m tape. If that holds, I’ll leave it. If not, I may need to move it somewhere I can install nuts and bolts. I’m not drilling holes in this location. I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. The mic is still across the dash for now. My baby arrived yesterday and I’ve been a bit busy. lol
Thanks! Its been a whirlwind. He was evicted (c-section) at 35 weeks because Mom has(had) Vasa Previa. We're in the NICU learning how to stay warm and eat. Probably be here for a week or two, but he's healthy otherwise. Just needs a little time to grow.Congratulations!

My first Job !A lot of you "youngsters" probably weren't around in the "way back when" Mc D's made GOOD fries....
In the mid 60's when I was a teen, got my first job at a Mc D's. The fries were made fresh almost every 15 minutes or so. Potatoes came in a shipping sack and we had to clean/wash the taters.
We then took 8-10 taters and put them in a large pail type affair with a lid. The inside of the pail had small protrusions through out the interior. The pail was than hand cranked via a handle, rotating the pail....the protrusions scraping the tater skin off.
Skinned taters then went to a press type cutter that "stringed" them, and then right into the fryer that was filled with lard (big blocks of lard were put in the fryer daily and melted down.....no "low cholesterol " stuff.....real lard).
All the "newbie's" were started off on the tater/fry making part of the kitchen and we "graduated" to the grill or to the ordering window (no eat in...ordered at the outside window, picked up and ate on outside tables).
Hamburgers were 12 cents, cheeseburger's were 15 cents, and an order of fries....only one size, were 15 cents.
Looks like a great mounting location and easy to see the display! I haven't used a CB radio since I was a kid.![]()

I can usually get some good chatter in my area on the 2m/70cm bands around here. Now that I have it, I am working on getting my wheeling buddies on it too. I also want to listen to the ISS when it flies by and the airport when I'm bored.Looks like a great mounting location and easy to see the display! I haven't used a CB radio since I was a kid.
Actually, after the spuds were peeled, we put them thru the manual cutter, the spuds were then placed in a stainless steel sink with little bits of peal on them washed and drained 3 times In cold water. My first Job !
Do you remember or did they have Lum's where you lived ? Big ol 1/4 lb hot dogs cooked in beer ?Chili/onions/cheese for 39 cents....Actually, after the spuds were peeled, we put them thru the manual cutter, the spuds were then placed in a stainless steel sink with little bits of peal on them washed and drained 3 times In cold water.
Then, were placed in a blanching vat for 20 minutes at 200 degrees and then hung above the vat untill dry. The blanched were ready for frying and available to the server, then fried at 350 degrees until done… The best fries ever made.
The burgers were placed on a bed of chopped onion and flipped. The buns were toasted on the griddle, a squirt kechup and mustard done ..
Your prices are on point ! and the long skinny fries have passed away ..
For airing down?![]()
