Yet another thing to order, but it sounds like just the right thing!

Thanks you! =)

You waste no time. It really works great and just a couple drops will get anything moving. 10x better then the PB Blaster I used to use and even smells good. My wife stole one of my bottles for squeaky rusty hinges she kept asking me to fix. For extremely rusted nuts and bolts apply a couple drops to the thread and let it sit 15 minutes, If they still don't come loose easy apply a couple more drops never had to do it more then twice. Great for garden pruners and old rusty tools also.

I got the Nextbase 622GW dash cam with rear camera for Kate's car and will be getting one for Soupie very soon.

It can do time lapse! So how exciting will it be for y'all to see dump runs in action! =p

I bet you just can't wait and please make sure to have fresh popcorn on hand. Oh hold on ... my phone's ringing, it might be Peter Jackson looking to make an epic film ... hmm, who should play me? =D

Since I have her camera, I started seeing where would be a good spot to mount them on Soupie.

The front camera has a touchscreen and it can show the front, or the rear, or picture-in-picture of both. I think I'd like to be able to see it for additional backing up safety and also to make it easy to touch the "save" function (it does save the recording if the impact thing trips in it).

I have zero dash cam experience, so it's all new to me and I'm all ears on any advice. =)

For her car, I have a Dongar mirror connector dealio. For Soupie, I don't have an auto-dimming mirror so I'm planning to do a fuse tap - seems pretty easy and many here have indicated what fuses to use (and @AzScorpion swears by the ODB connector, my only concern is that I already have the Remote-X starter plugged in and it's inline, so the ODB port is still available in its original location for techs to use). BUT ... there's power for the truck's front anti-collision cam and the interior lights near the mirror. Could I potentially wire tap any of that?

the mount would be on the frits with a little clearance to move the cam a bit side to side without seeing the frits themselves - it's a magnetic connection to the camera and has 140° view

IMG_20230814_083435312_HDR.webp

can't take this pic from a good angle, the rear cam would be to the inside of the driver supercab rear head rest (lucked out and have the locking buttons on this '22) - so it's not centered but I figure it'll still show a lot (also 140° view). I read that someone fished that wire right through the headliner rather than running it through the side door trim - would love to learn more on that possibility. bonus note to my Speedo Fan Club - with the cam mounted there, it should be at the right height for exciting close ups as I push stuff out the bed at the dump! =p
IMG_20230814_083620842.jpg

front cam has a built-in polarizing filter and, more importantly, I can understand the user interface, that was a huge point in deciding to get these - it just made sense to me how it works

I make an effort to buy American. I use an arbor press for my game business and have pressed nearly 10,000 mint tins with it. I could have gone with a $40 Harbor Freight China model but bought a $398 US made one. It's been fantastic and keeps tight tolerances.

So when I got a jack for Soupie, I followed @AzScorpion's advice and went with US Jack. And despite what I'm writing next, I'm sure it's a damn fine jack but ...

It's expensive at $315!!

And, clearly, they don't actually test them individually because as soon as I started jacking on it, fluid started running out of the piston assembly.

We'll see how they treat me, I anticipate that they'll provide great customer service.

And it continued leaking when I jacked up the other side ...

UPDATE: I bought it through Amazon and a replacement will be here by the 14th, so we'll see how that goes. Free shipping of the defective one with a nearby Kohl's drop-off. Fingers crossed! =)
Another update: I just received the replacement via Amazon and will ship back the other in its box.

Yep, tested it on Soupie and it works! Plus left it under a load for an hour and no issue. Phew!

The return was incredibly fast and I had put a note on the U.S. Jack site itself, even though I didn't buy it direct and the general manager for U.S. Jack wrote me today to make sure it's all taken care of. I didn't realize that they have a two-year warranty. =)

I'm glad to see that made in the US still means quality (most of the time - I'm looking at you Rough Country with your zero follow up, no more RC for me!).

Okay, time to get jacking! Err, well, you know what I mean! *wink, wink* =p

Got the somewhat expensive locking gas plug.

$54.78 + shipping https://www.levittownfordparts.com/sku/bu5z-9c268-a.html

It was a little unintuitive putting it in and if you had really strong fingernails, you might be able to pull it off. As others have mentioned, a small knife or screwdriver should be able to pry it off. But ... I suppose it may stop someone from putting sugar in your tank.

ra-ra, made in the US!

it's smaller than I thought
IMG_20230818_084845091.webp

not sure why I thought it would be bigger, maybe from older full locking caps

IMG_20230818_084916860.webp

forget Fort Knox!
IMG_20230818_085050094.webp

just half open to show rear
IMG_20230818_085127489.webp

the key and it's keyring hole is small too
IMG_20230818_085217912.webp

feels a bit wobbly and not tightly flush with actual filler

sleep better? not sure, but ... you know ... this forum makes me buy things I didn't even know existed! =D

I wouldn't worry about locking that. They just drill a 1/2 inch hole in the tank and put a pan under it these days.

Funny story and my slight rationalization to do this, sugar in the tank.

I got my John Deere thanks to farthead students who put a load of sugar into that tractor.

It was at the very small private Dallas school that I taught at and it was used to mow the 19 acres (well, about 15 mowable).

The live-in groundskeeper/maintenance guy had no idea how to fix it. I made a deal with the school that I'd clear a creek of excess brush that ran through the campus and had Fire Marshall citations if they'd give me the tractor and 6-foot grooming mower. I also said I'd mow the grounds that summer and fall.

So I trailered up that JD and brought it to my friend's shop and we got it going again pretty easily.

It went on to provide me with summer income for a few years. I miss that little tractor.

decent finish mower plus I had a 6-foot Bush Hog, and 4-foot back blade

Got this...Wavian 2 1/2 gallon fuel container. Sometimes when towing I tend to push the limits between fill-ups, a few times have taken 18 gallons and a bit more. Wife swore that if we ever ran out I would be the one walking !!!
Only filling and taking when we're on the road towing the camper. Should give me a 20 mile "peace of mind".
Expensive, but supposed to be the best.

That's a great looking container, looks like a really nice build.

Thanks for letting us know, I'm looking for something smaller than my 5-gallon Justrite - ideally something to fit in front of my wheel hump in that "empty space" screaming to be filled with something (the other side front space has my tire chains standing upright velcroed to the BedRug).

Update: the 5-liter size looks to be the perfect dimensions for my needs - you know, for those extended dump runs! =D
