If you plan on keeping it for a while I would buy one. You can always cancel it and get the pro rated difference back if you sell it later on. This way you’ll at least be covered for anything major like the dreaded 10R80 transmission that’s plagued several here.

I never, ever got an extended warranty on anything.

But I did on the Ranger - too many electronic brain things.

But it's also a financial decision. I never could really afford to in the past.

If you can swing it, I'd recommend it. Shop around a little, there are a couple of highly reputable ones out there.

If anyone here has a good experience with one, that's worth its weight in gold.

Good luck!

I bought the 8 year 125K mile warranty for my 2020 Ranger. I bought it a year ago when I had about 15K miles on it. I'm only driving 7 to 8 thousand miles a year so the agent suggested I save a few bucks on going with 125K instead of 150K miles saying I would probably hit 8 years before 125K miles. Anyway.....I'm happy I did because I love my Ranger Lariat and plan on it possibly being my last vehicle as I'm 72 years old. Especially considering the electronics everything just cost way too much now days to take a chance. It's like any other insurance.....it's a bitch to pay for it but you'll be glad you have it if you need it.

I've never bought an extended warranty before but I really do want to make Strider my last truck purchase and I don't want to hassle with paying for anything at all for at least another 7 years. My truck has gremlins like a lot of other Rangers out there and having that document is peace of mind to me. I'd just as soon never hear the words finance, uncovered or deductible ever again.

I bought the upper tier of the Endurance extended warranty for both my cars; they're good for 125k miles and 7 years. Is it expensive, yes. Is the engine/transmission/electronics expensive yes. $100 deductible, but they only cover a component once. Oil change and tire rotation is covered up to $60(?) three times a year. I figure I am paying a relatively small amount each month as opposed to a big lump sum down the road, possibly on the road. But again it is a personal choice based on your finances and risk factor comfort zone.

I purchased the easy care warranty and I'm glad I did. Just after the factory warranty ran out, the radio, ford pass and Navigation all started going haywire. They ran diagnostics and determined the APIM and TCU were bad. It could have been very costly, they had my truck two days shy of two weeks and warranty covered renal car and repairs, My final cost was a $100 deductible!

I did because of the transmission issues people are seeing.

I went with Grainger Ford. Great pricing and easy to do. It shows in my FordPass account as expected.

I went back and forth on the warranty and waited until my 3 years were just about up.
Since I have a 2019 and the HVAC didn't fail during the 3 years I went ahead and got the warranty.

The thing about extended warranties is, If you don’t get it, you’ll someday wish you did, and if you do get it, you’ll probably never need it.

I got the Ford Flood Ext warranty for peace of mind.

The Ranger is a great truck, as the # of members/owners will attest to. But, it does have it's problems, and most will probably poke up after the 3 year/36,000 warranty is over. I bought our 8 year/125000 via Flood Ford, and will probably go thru the 8 years before I come near the 125,000 miles.
We tow our travel trailer regularly, for a week, up to 3 weeks at a time, and the fact that if something happens while we're on the road, I can have it taken to any Ford dealer and get the problem taken care of without worrying about $$$$.
Also, as we tow a fairly heavy trailer, the Ranger is getting a real work out, putting a lot of stress on it. Knowing the warranty will take care of any problems/break down's while away from home, puts my mind at ease

Thanks for the input on this , like I said I'm almost outa 3/60 , and was going to get a 5/100 , anything after 100 k km is so dam expensive here in Canada, but power train is covered to 100k so only thing that bothers me is LED lights and tranny so I guess it's still a toss up. Thanks for everyone's input ?
