Hi all. I've been running my '22 Lariat Tremor for about 18 months on a Livernois 91-93 tune and am ready for the next step in performance. Right now everything else is stock.

From my reading, it appears that the general order of upgrades on this truck would be below for a balance of performance with cost:

  1. Tune
  2. CAI
  3. Charge pipes
  4. 3" downpipe
  5. IC
  6. 3" exhaust
Is this about right? I don't want to get into personal philosophies so much as confirm a solid general approach.

I think I'll be moving on a CAI, charge pipes, and downpipe soon. The IC and exhaust down the road.

Hi Chris, nice to see some mods. I do some track with my car & first mod is always the driver. Go do some HPDE first.
High Performance Driver Education.
But, always a 'but', seeing this is a truck... just keep your OEM parts, never know when you will need them back.

If the Ranger is anything like the RS, I've heard there are no meaningful gains from the downpipe unless you are going with a bigger turbo too. 3" catted downpipe without the turbo is a lot of money for nothing. And if you are thinking catless for price, remember that is illegal for road use.

I assume the damper was the very first one ...

I like your list of modifications you've planned. I do not have a tune yet, my stock truck I run a Mishimoto cai and charge pipes, plus a 2.5 exhaust with the stock downpipe. Very happy letting it breathe a little more.
I do not know the merits or a new intercooler so I will let someone smarter chime in there. Which downpipe are you looking at? The full SPD exhaust/downpipe seemed a little loud for me with a daily.

I'm looking at the SPD downpipe - apparently Ford changed the bolt pattern or somesuch for the 2022 and 2023 MYs and SPD is the only one I can find that fits it now (which seems to be available only directly from SPD itself).

I don't have a tune, but I do have all the hardware...I'd recommend reversing the order of your mods and do tune last after the hardware...tunes are generally geared to take advantage of better flow from better plumbing...

Of course, you should add a tail gate damper for an additional 30hp...

From a variety of boards (here and elsewhere) I understood the "stage 1" mods were considered to be the "easy" ones - tune and CAI/filter. To me that meant they are typically done first. And the harder stuff (dp, ic, etc) were typically considered "stage 2". With "stage 3" being bigger turbo, etc.

In this thread, I'm hearing that even with a tune upfront, a "real" tune should be done after the other mods. Livernois has told me that their tune will automatically adjust for that stuff and further changes shouldn't be necessary. I'm trying to confirm that with them again now.

I'm assuming "canned tune" in the earlier comment meant ones like 5 Star and Livernois (et al), even though they are based on files sent to them from my truck?

Is that about right?

Which tune are you going to do? If doing the Ford Performance tune I was told to skip the other mods as they won't really change much. The Ford Tune may not be as powerful as some aftermarket ones, but I didn't want to void the extended warranty I purchased for 7yr/100,000 miles.

I put the Livernois 91-93 on it a month after I got it. I've been happy with it, but now that they've priced the Ranger Raptor out of my reach (with @#$% dealer markups), I want some more oomph.

I went from "I'm not screwing with this" 8 weeks ago to running 93, then CVF D/P to a 3" Flowmaster (too goddamn loud, like a Japanese bike) then a S&B CAI, just ordered CVF hot / cold pipes and an intercooler... Next is picking a tuner

Where are you at? I didn’t figure I needed an IC in Michigan…
Eastern PA, I’m in FL all the time, most likely I don’t need it, but why not?
